The Poole Piano Company, of Boston, has brought
out a new grand model, the attractive case of which
has been specially designed for the installation of the
Grand Reproducing Action, Welte-Mignon (Licen-
see), an illustration of which appears herewith.
In view of the fact that the trade as a whole is
familiar with the high quality reputation of both the
Poole piano and the Welte-Mignon (Licensee) Re-
producing Action, it will be appreciated that this lat-
est addition to the Poole line is another step forward
in the path'of Poole advancement.

a downward revision of taxes; a better attitude on the
part of labor; and a revision of the immigration laws.
A resolution declared that the present immigration
law was unscientific and should be amended so as to
provide for a selective process at the point of depar-
ture, rather than at the point of entry.
F. J. Ragatz Is Elected Secretary and Arthur Kuche-
man Chosen Treasurer of H. G. Johnson Co.
A meeting of the directors of the H. G. Johnson
Piano Mfg. Co., at Bellevue, Iowa, was held Wednes-
day morning for the purpose of electing a secretary
and treasurer of that industry. Fred J. Ragatz was
elected secretary, and Arthur Kucheman treasurer.
These two men are stockholders in the company and
have evinced an interest in the success of the insti-
tution that entitles them to recognition.
Dan Pagenta, vice-president, went from Chicago to
attend the meeting and get a line on things at the
factory. Mr. Pagenta is very enthusiastic over the
way things are moving. The factory is now turning
out a large number of instruments which go to all
parts of the United States and some foreign coun-
tries and are giving satisfaction everywhere.
Matters may so shape themselves, we understand,
that baby grand pianos will be manufactured at the
Bellevue factory. At present the output is confined
to playerpianos.

CHICAGO TRADE SENDS
ARTISTS TO CONVENTION
Piano Club Compliments Down-Staters by Sending
Prominent Young Pianist and Singer.
The Chicago Piano Club has contributed two
promising young musical artists to the convention
of the Illinois Music Trade Association at Peoria,
October 22-23. Miss Viola Ehrmann, soprano, and
Miss Janie Clarkson, pianist, will add to the delights
of the occasion.
In accordance with the policy of the Chicago Piano
Club, it has taken upon itself the expense of sending
these two 3'oung ladies to Peoria as another indica-
tion of its desire to promote merit whenever and
wherever possible.
Although young in years, the talents with which
both young ladies are gifted have given them promi-
nence. Particularly favorable has been the expres-
