PLAYER ACTION KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL TO TUNER
So Says Chas. Deutschmann, President, National As-
sociation of Piano Tuners.
"In a few years the tuner without play action
knowledge will be a dead one." This statement sums
up the advice made to tuners by Chas. Deutschmann,
president of the National Association of Piano Tun-
ers, in a letter written to Milton L. Cheek, principal
of the Danquard Player Action School, New York.
Considering Mr. Deutschmann's close contact with
piano conditions, his recommendations may be ac-
cepted as authoritative.
So enthusiastic is he about the work being con-
ducted by the Danquard Player Action School that
he has addressed the following letter to Mr. Cheek
urging all tuners to take advantage of the knowledge
obtainable at the school:
"Every day adds more evidence to the good work
your school is doing. A few days ago in a small town
in Ohio I found the most capable player repairman to
be a graduate of your school and many of the most
competent player repairmen are also graduates of
your school. Even considering the great number of
students who have gone through your school there
is still a great shortage of player repairmen in this
country. I would urge and advise every tuner in
our industry to take the time and attend the courses
offered by the Danquard Player Action School . In a
few years a tuner without player action knowledge
will be a dead one. Hoping your school were as-
sured the success I wish it, I remain."

SEES END OF JAZZ.
The task of making America musical can be ac-
complished by the co-operation of private music
teachers, the public schools and the women's clubs,
Mrs. Frances Clark, member of the executive com-
mittee of the National Association of Music Teach-
ers, said in an address in Richmond, Ind., last week,
before the State Music Teachers' Association, which
opened its annual meeting in Grace M. E. Church,
"Jazz" will be eliminated by a process of education
emanating from these factors, she said.
SELLING THE BRINKERHOFF.
A glance through exchanges from many cities
proves that many very live retailers are pushing the
"Brinkerhoff" instruments in good style. Among
them is the Heaton's Music Store at Columbus,
Ohio, which has large space in the Ohio State Jour-
nal announcing that "the Old Reliable Brinker-
hoft playerpianos are sold only by Heatou's Music
Store." The Brinkerhoff is a good line to sell, and
the dealers have long ago found it out.
