nient—how to make it reproduce the effects he
knows the piece he is performing needs. And this
there is nobody to teach him! One would have
thought that the makers of the instruments would
have seen to it that somewhere or other the pur-
chaser could be taught the full technique of the
pianoplayer.
Here and there, I believe, someone teaches the
pianoplayer as other people teach the piano; but
surely, considering the number of these instruments
now in use, there is room for dozens of such teach-
ers in every large town.

AMPICO IN MILWAUKEE.
The Kesselman-O'Driscoll Co., Plankinton Ar-
cade, Milwaukee, reports a growing favor toward
the Knabe Ampico, which is being stressed in all
of its advertising matter. The use of the Knabe
Ampico in public concerts and recitals during the
present active musical season has done much to
support the vigorous representation being given
the line by Kesselman-O'Driscoll since it developed
its talking machine business into a full-fledged mu-
sic house featuring pianos, last September, when it
moved from 258 West Water street to 107 Grand
avenue.
WOMEN AS PIANO BUYERS.
"The plea of the piano dealer is very wisely ad-
dressed to the women of the farm," said E. A. Parks,
head of the Parks Music House Company, Hanni-
bal, Mo., last week. "In Missouri alone more than
seventy million dollars worth of eggs and poultry
was sold besides what was eaten. The chicken yard
is the domain of the farm women, so you can see
the significance of the figures."
