We can use this same binary
information to operate the "numeral
selection." or BCD input section of
the test fixture. The angle encoder is
turned as you would a potentio-
meter . to display the different

These switches provide the same
output as the angle encoder. a
four -bit code that corresponds to the
decimal digit shown on the wheel.
They are rather difficult to mount.
however . and since I can't figure out
a way to nail one to a piece of ply-
wood. I don't use them .
One last word of caution to those
of you who might be unfamiliar with
projects that use th e 7490 !C. ... The
power pins on this chip are not the
same as the "corn er power" connect -
ions of just about ever y other chip.
For the 7490 . th e + 5 volt supply
goes to pin 5. and ground pin is pin
10 . Be observant when making the
power co nnectio ns' Th e same chip is
available with corner p ower pins . but
it's hard er to find and more
expensive. If you fee l like going for it.
