Atari
Interchangeability
By Fred McCord
So it's Friday night at the pub and your brand new Atari Middle Earth
decides to eat a linear coil. Oops, you don't have an Atari coil in your bag
of tricks? Well , maybe the following interchangeability chart should get you
out of trouble . Two things are important, however:
1. The information is based on current games . Therefore, it is possible that
there may be other coils from older equipment that would work . However,
without adequate testing on a particular part, we cannot recommend
random replacement.
2 . It is also important that the footnotes be read and heeded .
Tip 2
SITUATION : Method of play
adjustment for coins in Midway's
Clowns .
INTERCHANGEABH..ITY CHART WITH ATARI DEVICES
MANUFACTURER/Part Number
SOLUTION: In all play adjust-
ments, except one-coin - one-play-
er, and two-coin - two-player, the
TV screen blanks out when a coin is
deposited . (No loss of coin .)
Selecting a one- or two -player
game when pressing "select player"
button returns TV screen to a normal
play mode .
ATARI DEVICE
SITUATION: Midway Clowns
game over delay and coin operation .
SOLUTION: When the game is
turned on or reset via coin door
switch (tilted) , a new game will not
start with a coin for about fifteen
seconds .
The coin will register during the
game over delay and a one or two
player game can be selected after the
delay period .
