Musical Aptitude Test
A unique feature of the Education Di-
vision's Convention Business session on
Store-Studios was the introduction of a
musical aptitude test. Members have
shown much interest in such tests, and
this one published by NAMM makes
available to all mmebers a simple music
survey test. It can be administered any-
where including the home because it
utilizes the mobility of the accordion.
The test can be used in the Studio, the
canvassing operation, public or paroch-
ial schools, and in developing indus-
trial music. It can determine a grade
in establishing the child's native musical
ability, help to place the child proper-
ly in group work, and be of service in
converting the student from a rental
instrument to a purchase. The test is
flexible in its many uses, and takes just
twenty minutes to give to any one per-
son or a group. The Music Ability Sur-
vey Test is available to members in any
quantity at ten cents per copy. The Stu-
dent Test Sheets are available as fol-
lows: 25 copies @ 20c; 50 copies
@ 30c; 100 copies (a 50c. Members
may secure a sample copy.

include schools, restaurants, night clubs,

Teacher Invents Adjustable
Piano Chair
The Sit-Rite adjustable piano chair
has been perfected which can be ad-
justed properly for any person in the
home, for the student in the studio
and for any artist at the keyboard. A
special feature designed for comfort
is its back, which is in "just the right
place"' for restful back support when
the student or artist who practices
many hours a day feels the neeed.
The mechanism permits eleven seat
adjustments at intervals of three-eighths
of an inch, starting at eighteen inches
from the floor. This is the height of the
lowest piano bench made. It will ad-
just up to twenty-two inches from the
floor, which is an inch higher than
the highest piano bench made. The ad-
justment is made by pressing with the
thumb and forefinger, the metal tabs
at the back of the chair. When the
scat has been raised or lowered to the
proper height, the tabs arc then re-
leased.
Bruce M. Dougherty, of Dallas, Tex.,
a singer and teacher, is the inventor of
this adjustable chair.
