tion to be modernized into a 25-foot-
front, up-to-date, "Music Headquar-
ters" store at 309 East Broad Street,
next door west of the Ritz Theater. In
this new store, the Beasley company
w T ill have enlarged quarters through
their occupancy of a second-story floor
having a width of fifty feet.
Although Beasley's will occupy a sec-
tion of its new location now leased by
Kaleski's store, at 309 East Broad on
March 1, enlargement, improvement
and modernization will not begin until
June 1.
The Beasley company claims to be
the oldest retail store on Broad Street
with continuous operation, for it has
been in business in three East Broad
Street locations since 1899.
The date of moving will mark the
47-anniversary of the establishment of
the Beasley firm in the city. Although
founded in Waldo, Ark., in 1893, the
first Texarkana store was located at
213 East Broad Street on January 1,
1899, by the late H. V. Beasley, father
of the present owners, George and
James Beasley moved his music stre
t 111 East Broad Street where it con-
tinued until 1926, when it was moved
to the present address at 200 East
Broad Street.
The second generation Beasley bro-
thers are enthusiastic about their new
location in the 300 block of the north
side of Broad Street because of the in-
creasing popularity of this East Broad
Street section. With the improvements
already made, being made and planned
the Beasley's expect to be able to serve
better, a larger number of music lovers.
