Carl A. Droop
passes away suddenly at summer
home of stroke
aged 69
ton Board of Trade, the Merchants and
Manufacturers' Association and the Wash-
ington Heights Citizens' Association. The
Armenius Lodge of Masons, the Society of
Carl A. Droop, president of E. F. Droop
& Sons Co., Washington, D. C, died July
9th at his summer home in Bluemont, Va.,
where he suffered a paralytic stroke Sun-
day previously. He had gone to Bluemont
for the week end.
Mr. Droop was born in Washington 69
years ago. He was educated in the local
public schools and at Emerson Institute,
entering the music firm founded by his
father, the late Edward F. Droop, as a
young man. With his brother, Edward
Henry Droop, he carried on the business
after his father's death.
He received his early training in the
piano business in the Steinway factory in
New York and was always proud of a cer-
tificate to that effect issued by Steinway &

Sons which he had framed and hung on
the wall in his office.
For many years he was treasurer of the Natives, the Association of Oldest Inhabi-
National Association of Music Merchants. tants and belonged to the University Club
He was also a member of the Washing- and the Loudoun Golf and Country Club.
Besides his brother, Mr. Droop is sur-
vived by his widow. Mrs. Elfrieda Sell-
hausen Droop; three sisters, Mrs. Howard

Leverkus of Germany.
Funeral Services were held on July 12th
at the Epiphany Church. Interment was at
Oak Hill Cemetary.
