Walter Donaldson's New
Songs Hold Much Promise
"My Ohio Home" and "There Must Be a Silver
Lining" Regarded by Publishers as Worthy
Successors to "My Blue Heaven"
There has been considerable speculation in
sheet music circles as to what song would be
contributed to the Leo Feist, Inc., catalog by
Walter Donaldson to follow the big success of
his "At Sundown" and "My Blue Heaven,"
which were "natural" song hits, as any dealer
can testify. In the past few weeks Mr. Donald-
son has produced "My Ohio Home" and "There
Must Be a Silver Lining," both of which are

dally, that the firm has begun to think that the
composer has brought forth two trumps simul-
taneously.
"There Must Be a Silver Lining" was intro-
duced appropriately by the composer, himself,
who sang and played the number at a special
song writers' festival in conjunction with the
Maxwell radio hour over a national hook-up
recently. "My Ohio Home" is attracting a large
professional following, and there is still doubt in
the minds of the Feist executives as to which
song will be their No. 1 to follow "Blue
Heaven."
The.music publishing firm of Hamilton S.
Gordon, located for many years at 141-5 West
Thirty-sixth street, New York City, has moved
this week to new quarters at 33-35 East Twenty-
first street. The firm includes in its catalog
such old favorites as "Silver Threads Among the
Gold," ."A Son of the Desert Am I," also Gor-
don's Graded Piano Course and miscellaneous
standard and sacred music, and is one of the
older firms in the standard field. The new ad-
dress will afford spacious quarters on the
seventh floor of the building. The telephone
number has been changed to Algonquin 3462.

NEW ORLEANS, LA., January 28.—The Inde-
pendent Music Publishing Co., 838 Congress
street, this city, publisher of "Slow Down
Papa," comedy fox-trot, is preparing to offer to
dealers window material for making a special
display of this number. This has developed as
a result of the firm's decision to carry on an
active campaign for the song, which is being
sung and played in the leading entertainment of
New Orleans. The song was originally intro-
duced by Marcus White and his Midnight
Ramblers, a prominent local dance orchestra,
and their broadcasting of the number has
brought in orders from dealers in neighboring

States. The tune is adaptable both as a comedy
song and "race" number, and is on the order
of "You've Gotta See Mama Every Night, or
You Can't See Mama at All."
The Independent firm is also searching among
local composers for a suitable melody for a
first-class lyric, entitled "Wear a Smile To-day,"
which may be released by them as a class num-
ber soon.
