and has an extensive catalog of musical instru-
ment cases of various lines, including not only
the well-known Kant Krack brand, but also

NEW YORK
BOSTON, MASS., May 19.—The Vega Co. has an-
nounced a new model trumpet which is now
ready for shipment to dealers. It is designed
to meet the needs of the orchestra player who
wishes to produce volume with sufficient reserve
without causing his lips to overblow or exert
unnecessary pressure while maintaining a beau-
tiful tone quality. It will be called the Vega
medium bore.
It has scientifically graduated bore construc-
tion, special composition bronze valve castings
and nickel-plated pistons. Those who have seen
and played the instrument have nothing but the
highest praise for it, this number including
Walter M. Smith, one of America's foremost
trumpeters.
Smeck Will Play
Roy Smeck, the famous Vrtaphone "Wizard
of the Strings," writes that he is looking for-
ward with keen anticipation to playing before
convention visitors at the Hotel Commodore
during the convention. Smeck, who will appear
through the courtesy of Jay Kraus of the Har-
mony Co., will demonstrate the new Roy Smeck
Vita-guitar made by Mr. Kraus's concern. The
Harmony Co. will show its full line at the con-
vention.
Another Burglars' Visit
The William R. Gratz Import Co., New York,
was victimized by burglars recently when
thieves entered the offices and stockrooms and
stole several trumpets, clarinets, saxophones
and cymbals. The police are checking up on
the burglary and Joseph Mock, head of the
company, has issued a notice asking dealers
and pawnbrokers to be on the lookout for cer-
tain serial numbered instruments.
