WASHINGTON, D. C, February 19.—A patent for
a new piano key has been granted to Christian
Gulbransen, Chicago, who has assigned the
patent to the Gulbransen Co., of Chicago. Fol-
lowing is one of the five claims for the patent-
ability : "In a player-piano, in combination, a
pivot pin and plate, a key element centrally sup-
ported thereby, said key element extending with
undiminished cross section a short distance past
said pin, the cross section being then cut down,
substantially on the axis of rotation of said
element and its support, said leaf projecting be-
yond the end of said element, a pneumatic ac-
tion, connections between said action and leaf
engaging the projecting end of said leaf, a piano
action, and an operating connection between
said leaf ami piano action."
