MUSICAL MERCHANDISE

Milton G. Wolf Analyzes Opportunities
for the Woman Professional Musician
Member of Wm. Lewis & Son, Chicago, Takes as Example the Development of the
Women's Symphony Orchestra of That City
/^HICAGO, ILL., May 2.—"That opportunity
^^ in the commercial and professional fields
for women musicians is at last assured seems
to be most conclusively evidenced in the suc-
cessful organization of the Women's Symphony
Orchestra of Chicago," says Milton G. Wolf,
of Wm. Lewis & Son.
Mr. Wolf, who is in charge of the banjo
"The entry at this time of the Women's Sym-
phony Orchestra of Chicago, offering the best
in music, affords the long-needed opportunity
for the finished and accomplished student to
further her study along lines of practical work
and experience and to establish unquestionable
credentials for herself as to qualifications for
any position she might seek.
"In conclusion, it seems hardly possible that
the problem of financial support should remain
a handicap for long, in view of the accomplish-
ment, proven aggressiveness and valiant pur-
pose of this body of pioneers. The results
already accomplished must certainly strike a
responsive chord in the hearts of other public-
spirited individuals such as already grace the
roll of supporters of the Women's Symphony
Orchestra of Chicago."
work comes undisputed proof of the ability and
purpose of the orchestra to accomplish the
ultimate in this art, in the three concerts ren-
dered in the short space of three or four
months' time since its organization.
"Considering all this, I believe I am safe in
saying that the woman musician is on a higher
plane commercially, professionally, than at any
previous time.
"It is generally conceded that the final out-
come of any effort may well be judged by the
sincerity of purpose and aggressiveness with
which it is pursued. Surely the unusual record
of achievement of the Women's Symphony
Orchestra of Chicago, in its work of organiza-
tion and actual accomplishments of notable Radio Saxophone Radio Hour Brings Good and
