Arkansas
Pine Bluff, Ark.—A merger between the Hollen-
berg Music Co., the Nowlin-Carr Music Co., Pine
Bluff, and the Richards-Bevill Co., Hot Springs, has
been effected and the new company will operate a
chain of stores under the name of the Hollenberg
Music Co.
Pine Bluff, Ark.—A. G. Kahn and George F. Kahn
have opened a new piano store at 514 Main street,
handling Baldwin pianos and other musical instru-
ments.
California
San Francisco, Cal.—The Mission branch of Koh-
ler & Chase has been closed and L. P. Tenney,
manager, has been transferred to the piano depart-
ment of the O'Farrell street store of the company.
Anaheim, Cal.—Hans Madlener has purchased con-
trol of Hammers Music Store, 124 East Center street,
handling pianos, phonographs and other musical in-
struments.
Watsonville, Cal.—A branch of the Wiley B. Allen
Co., San Francisco, has been opened here with B. D.
Elliott as manager, occupying part of the California
Furniture Store on Third street.
Colorado
Rocky Ford. Colo.—The C. O. Clark Music Co.
has taken new quarters at Main street and Maple
avenue, featuring Gulbransen pianos, phonographs
and Conn band instruments.
Connecticut
Putnam, Conn.—Fred M. Prince has succeeded the
late Wallace W. Tuttle as president of the Putnam
Music Shop, Inc.

New Britain, Conn.—The Gibbs Piano Co. has
opened an addition to its store, practically doubling
its floor space.
Wuterbury, Conn.—The De Vito Music Co. has
been incorporated to deal in musical instruments
here, the officers being Louis M. De Vito, Michael
S. De Vito and Joseph C. Oliver.
Naugatuck, Conn.—Winslow's Music Shoppe has
moved from 82 Church street to new and larger
quarters in the Freedman Building, 04 Church street.
Florida
T,ake Wales, Fla.—The Sclioltz Music Co., Inc., has
been incorporated with a capital stock of $10,000, the
officers being F. H. Scholtz, Ellen M. Scholtz and
M. C. Jones.
Lakeland, Fla.—The Waring Music Co., Inc., has
acquired control of the Sappington Music Co., Inc.,
this city, which will be conducted as a branch with
J. C. Weithmis as manager.
Illinois
Kunkakre, III.—A new music department, called
the Musical Instrument & Supply Co., has been
opened by Bert Miller in conjunction with the Hugo
& Wolf Jewelry Co., East Court street.
Chicago, 111.—F. L. Augustine, manager of the
Schulz Piano Co., Cleveland, O., has been made
manager of the Werner Piano Co., 711 Milwaukee
avenue.
Chicago, 111.—The Brazen Piano Co., operated by
Harry Brazen, at 3541 West Roosevelt road, has
filed an involuntary petition in bankruptcy with
liabilities of $5,000.
Ubertyvllle, 111.—Earl G. Alden has opened a new
music store two doors south of the Post Office,
handling a complete line of musical instruments.
Chicago, 111.—The Harry Brooks Music Co., which
has operated a small goods store at 234 South Wa-
bash avenue for four years, has moved to 335 South
Wabash avenue.
Rock ford, III.—The Gulbransen-Brunswick Music
Co., of which John Blomquist is manager, has moved
from 1423 Eighth street to larger quarters at 1146
Broadway.
Chicago, III.—The Grandt Piano Co. has been
opened by Alex P. Grandt at 4100 West North street,
handling a full line of pianos.
Danville, 111.—V. S. Lovell and V. W. Keesling
have taken over the store of the Hobart M. Cable
Co., 20 West North street, and will conduct the
business in the future.
Iowa
Clinton, la.—The Paddock Music Co., which was
established here about two years ago, has taken
new, larger quarters at 311 South Second street.
Louisiana
New Orleans, J,a.—The King Music House, Inc.
has been incorporated with a capital stock of $25,000
by F. B. Carpenter and Leslie George.
Massachusetts
Worcester, Muss.—James A. McNamara has been
appointed manager of the new music department of
the I. H. Morse Co., which has been opened on the
second floor of the store.
Michigan
B:«y City, Mich.—The Kahn Music & Jewelry Store,
Inc., has been incorporated to deal in all kinds of
musical instruments with a capital stock of $50,000.
Muskegon, Mich.—The Bush & Lane Piano Co. has
opened its third local branch at 1234 Peck street,
located in the Muskegon Heights section.
Royal Oak, Mich.—The store of the Kimball Piano
Co., 612 St. Charles street, has suffered a slight fire
loss, the cause of which is unknown.
Minnesota
nibbing, Minn.—The Alden Music Store has been
extensively redecorated and a new demonstration
platform for displaying pianos and phonographs has
been installed.
Hibbing, Minn.—The Winberg Music Store has
moved from its old location on Howard street to
new quarters adjoining the Boston department store.
Minneapolis, Minn.—R. N. Eskell, formerly with
the Lyric Music Co. in Milwaukee, has succeeded
Eugene Anderson as manager of the Cammack Piano
Co., with the transfer of the latter to the factory.
Missouri
Clayton, Mo.—Val A. Reis, formerly of the Smith
Reis Piano Co., St. Louis, which is liquidating, has
opened a new store called the Smith-Boyd Co., at
22 Meramec avenue.
Kansas City, Mo.—The W. W. Kimball Co. has
opned a branch store at Armour and Main streets.
Kansas City, Mo.—The J. W r . Jenkins Sons Co.
has opened a second branch store at 1217-19 Main
street, handling a full stock of musical instruments.
St. Loui«, Mo.—The Horras Piano Co., of which
John L. Horras was president, has filed a petition
in bankruptcy with assets of $7,105 and liabilities
of $.51,070.
Nebraska
Fairbury, Neb.—The White Piano Co , this city,
has moved into new quarters in the Masonic Temple,
which have been redecorated to suit its needs.
Wifber, Neb.—Richard and Emil K iment have
purchased the interest of F. W. Hodek in the {iodek
Music Shop.
New Jersey
Dover, N. J.—The store of the Harway Music Co.,
28 West Blackwell street, h-is been redecorated and
its display facilities have been increased.
New Mexico
Clayton, New Mex.—F. P. Kilburn has opened a
new music department in the Woodward Block as
an annex to his furniture business, anil will feature
Baldwin pianos and phonographs.
New York
Rome, N. Y.—Buckingham & Moak, of L'tica, one
of the oldest music stores in the country, have
opened a branch store here.
Binghamton, N. Y.—Sullivan Bros., who have con-
ducted a music store here for the past ten years,
have opened their new six-story building at 132-34
State street.
Troy, N. Y.—Miller's Music Store, 71-73 Fourth
street, suffered heavy damages, when the three-story
building in which it is located was practically de-
stroyed by fire.
Monroe, N. Y.—Philip Fleischer, of Newburgh, has
purchased the E. A. Koonz Music & Furniture store,
Lake street, and will operate the store on a wider
scale in the future.
Rochester, N. Y.—A petition in bankruptcy has
been filed by the Griffin Piano Co., Inc., which lists
its assets at $4
Saranac Lake, N. Y.—Bosworth's Music Store, lo-
cated in the Keet Block on Main street, has suf-
fered a severe fire loss.
Buffalo, N. Y.—The Hoffman Piano Co. has re-
moved to its new quarters at Main and Goodell
streets, where larger window space and increased
display facilities are afforded.
Buffalo, N. Y.—The Alfred Music Shop has taken
new warerooms at (ill Main street, which have been
decorated to suit its needs.
Brooklyn, N. Y.—Warren Smith has succeeded
C. S. Hammond as manager of the piano depart-
ment of Frederick Looser & Co. with the latter's
resignation.
New York City—C. S. Hammond has been ap-
pointed manager of the piano, sheet music and string
Instrument departments of Gimbel B;os., a position
made vacant by the resignation of Murk Max a few
months ago.
New York City—O. Freund, Jr., for many years
manager of the Biddle Piano Co., on East 125th
street, has been placed in charge of the retail store
of Jacob Doll & Sons, 39 Second avenue.
New York City—The Merit Talking Machine Co.,
Inc., 121 East 125th street, has filed a petition in
bankruptcy, with assets of $10,905 and liabilities of
$S,533.
Albany, N. Y.—Cluett & Sons, which has been a
factor in the trade here for nearly seventy-five years,
have held the formal opening of their new home at
479-81 Broadway.

High Point, N. C.—A new piano store, known as
the Jesse G. Brown Co., has been opened at 126
North Main street, handling a full line of uprights,
players and grands.
Durham, N. C—The W. R. Murray Co., local
music house, has moved to its new home at the
corner of Chapel Hill and Orange streets.
Winston-Salem, N. C.—R. R. Bland and W. L.
Easley have opened the Melody Shop at 527 North
Liberty street, featuring Columbia Viva-tonal phono-
graphs, small goods and radio.
Ohio
Columbus, O.—Heaton's Music Store, 33 East Lons
street, has purchased the stock and business of the
O. W. Hudnell Piano Co., 750 North High street.
Cleveland, O.—A branch of the Euclid Music Co.
has been opened at Coventry road and Euclid
Heights boulevard.
Tiffin, O.—Charles M. Hershberger, music store
proprietor, has filed a petition in bankruptcy with
liabilities at $10,550 and assets at $7,732.
Lorain, O.—The new home of the Witt Music Store
at 647 Broadway, this city, has been formally
opened.
Cleveland, O.—M. H. Grantkowski has opened a
new piano store at 0103 Broadway under the name
of the Broadway Music House, as a branch of his
store at 6508 Forman avenue.
Dayton, O.—C. J. Stoecklein has been named re-
ceiver for the Hunter Music House, 121 South Ludlow
street, and will dispose of the concern's bankrupt
stock at public auction.
Warren, O.—An involuntary petition in bankruptcy
has been filed against L. J. Leonard Stewart, doing
business here as the Stewart Music House.
Toledo, O.—C. B. Trowbridge has succeeded H. H.
Conner as manager of the local Cable Piano Co.
store, with the latter's transfer to the Detroit Cable
branch.
Cleveland, O.—The Musical Supply, Inc., has been
incorporated with a capital stock of $10,000.
Cleveland, O.—S. J. Basta has opened a new, com-
plete music store at 0032 Broadway, Southeast, fea-
turing Jesse French pianos and Columbia Viva-tonal
phonographs.
Mansfield, O.—The Charles M. Zitzer music store
has moved from 35 North Main street to new quar-
ters at 80 North Main street.
Oklahoma
Kingfisher, Okla.—The Mallonee Music Co., of El
Reno, has opened a new branch in the Bracken
Building, with Mrs. Frank Ward as manager.
Chickaslia, Okla. — The Fowler Music Co. has
moved from its old quarters at 419 Chickasha ave-
nue to the Hall and Briscoe Building on the same
avenue.
Oregon
Medford, Ore.—B. J. Palmer, who has conducted
the Palmer Piano House here for several years, has
sold his interest in the business to C. H. Isaac,
W. H. Fluhrer and Miss Ruth Fluhrer.
Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, Pa.—Carson's Music Shop, 518 South
street, has acquired the stock of the Peoples Talking
Machine Co., formerly 519 South street.
Latrobe, Pa.—A. R. Shaw has opened a new
music store or. Depot street, handling sheet music
and small instruments.
Philadelphia, Pa.—Philip H. Hangen has succeeded
Albert E. Wilcox as buyer of the piano department
of Gimbel Bros., and the latter has taken Mr. Han-
gen's position as manager of C. J. Heppe & Son.
Philadelphia, Pa.—The music store of H. A. Doull,
2315 Ridge avenue, has suffered a severe fire loss.
Tennessee
Clarksvillc, Tenn.—A new music shop has been
opened here by J. M. Dickson under the name of
the Dickson Book & Music Store, which will carry
sheet music and small goods.
Texas
Dallas, Tex.—The Sanger Music Corp. has been
incorporated with a. capital stock of $5,000 to con-
duct a general music business here.
Bay City, Tex.—W. E. Goodwin has opened a new
music store on East Sixth street to act as a sub-
agency for the lines of pianos and phonographs
handled by Thomas Goggan & Bro., San Antonio.
Utah
Beaver, Utah—Harry Lawrence and Cyril Roberts
have opened a new music store, called the Beaver
Music Co., handling a full line of musical Instru-
ments.
Washington
Kelso, Wash.—The Norton Music Co. has been in-
corporated with a capital stock of $r>,0()0, the pro-
prietors being Charles A. and Lydia B. Norton.
West Virginia
Weston, W. Va.—E. J. Tootman and Henry J.
McKinley have opened » new music store in the

Madison, W i s . - T . Lane Ward and Cecil D. Brodt
have opened a new music store at 238 State street,
known as the Ward-Brodt Music Co., and have
acquired the sheet music departments of the Hook
Bros, store and the Forbes-Meagher Music Co.
Milwaukee, Wis.—The Flanner-Hafsoos
