Flanner-Hafsoos Ties
Up With Olsen Orchestra
Well-known Organization to Play Permanently
in That City in the Riverview Ballroom
MILWAUKEE, Wis., June 14.— The Flanner-
Hafsoos Music House has received word that
Ole Olsen, noted orchestra leader, who uses
Conn instruments exclusively in his orchestras,
is returning to Milwaukee for a permanent en-
gagement at the Riverview ballroom after meet-
ing with great success in his travels during the
past five years. Ole Olsen was originally a Mil-
waukee musician, up to five years ago meeting
with marked success as an orchestra leader
here. He then left to accept a position on the
road. He has played in Cleveland and will be
remembered in the East for his success during a
year's engagement with "Little Jesse James,"
when it was playing on Broadway. The entire
band took a trip to Europe, during which it was
very well received in the night clubs of Paris
and later in Athens, Greece.
Mr. Olsen attributes his recent successes to
the Milwaukee music lovers who gave him his
start, and he displays much pleasure at being
able to return to this city for a permanent en-
gagement. Several members of the orchestra
who left Milwaukee with him five years ago
are included in the twelve-piece organization
which is now under his direction.
The Flanner-Hafsoos Music House announced
his return in its display window, showing a very
large $400 banner which will be hung in the
shell where the orchestra will play at the River-
view ballroom. Mr. Olsen has immediately es-
tablished his contact with this store as the local
Conn dealer, and members of the orchestra have
already purchased several instruments, includ-
ing a gold E-flat alto saxophone and a gold
B-flat soprano.
"I have always been very well satisfied with
the excellent service rendered me by Conn
dealers in all parts of the country," said Mr.
Olsen, "and James Boyer, secretary of C. G
Conn, Ltd., has been especially considerate in
taking care of my needs."
A. J, Niemiec, manager of the Conn instru-
ment department at the Flanner-Hafsoos store,
expresses much enthusiasm at the prospect of
having this famous Conn orchestra in the city,
and he anticipates a very favorably reaction in
the way of future sales.
Catalog Brings Results
"Our new No. 135 catalog has already brought
wonderful results," declared Felix Baer, of
Buegcleisen & Jacobson, New York, musical
merchandise jobbers, to a representative of The
Review this week. "The merchandise which
we are closing out at from 15 per cent to 25
per cent is fast getting low and we are advising
dealers to send in their orders immediately if
they want to take advantage of this special

offer. We arc also having big success with the
new merchandise we list in this catalog. Our
national advertising on Durro violins, bows and
strings has brought a tremendous response. We
are now supplying a great many dealers who
never handled this line before. This is on
account of the great demand for the Durro line.
Same is true of the S. S. Stewart Wondertone
banjos. We will have a display at our show-
room during the convention where these lines
will be exhibited and we extend a cordial wel-
come to all."

leaders of the line, is the shell made of eighteen-

The company is also offering to the trade a
tympani handle bass drum rod in special finishes
such as black ebony and white enamel, while
many other new features will be incorporated
in the new booklet, which has just been pre-
pared for the trade.
Charles A. Novak, president of the company,
reports that with the many new additions to the
line and a steadily increased production each
year, a new catalog has been prepared for the
dealers as an aid in fully describing and show-
ing it.
"There is every indication for an extra large
Fall business," said Mr. Novak, "which we antici-
pate will exceed the sales of previous years."
