Vernon Serenaders of
Pittsburgh Are Popular
Well-known Organization of Smoky City
Equipped With Martin Handcraft In-
struments
PITTSBURGH, PA., October 3.—-Youth, enthu-
siasm, and an abundant supply of that im-
portant quality commonly designated as "pep"
have been contributing factors in the steady, up-
ward climb of the Vernon Serenaders, one of
portant part in the success of any musical or-
ganization. They are equipped with Martin
Handcraft band instruments and unhesitatingly
pronounce them the best the market affords for
their needs.

Ukuleles Show Good Sales
With Rochester Dealers
Gibbons & Stone, of That City, Report Ukuleles
Increase All Sales in Stringed Instrument
Department
KociiKSTER, N. Y., October S.—"Say it with a
ukulele" has been the password among the
younger generation during the past few months,
according to Emil Kujawski, manager of the
small instrument department for Gibbons &
Stone. This firm has paid a great deal of atten-
tion to ukuleles and as a result has been re-
warded by a great number of sales of these
popular instruments to the young people of
Rochester.
Post-vacation time seems to send a great
many purchasers to the Gibbons & Stone store
for ukuleles, reports Mr." Kujawski. People
picked up the habit or the interest in ukulele
playing while at the vacation resorts and have
determined to master the instrument during the
Winter months. Many ukulele classes have been
organized and sales are increasing steadily.
The sale of ukuleles also seems to have a
most beneficial effect upon all musical instru-
ments. Stringed instruments of all kinds are in
particularly good demand. This store has found
that by pushing such an item as the ukulele it
is able to increase business in all lines of instru-
ments and that is the general report from all
music stores in this section.
