The new shows for which Feist will publish
the music so far scheduled are: "Merry, Merry,"
which opened in Hartford, Conn., on August 31
and later playing Providence, Springfield and
New Haven, following which it will make its
appearance at the Vanderbilt Theatre, New
York. The music of the show is by Harry
Archer and the book and lyrics by Harlan
Thompson. Among the newer writers they seem
to be the most dependable, having in the past
few seasons given us "My Girl" and "Little
Jessie James."
There is also in rehearsal two shows for
which Feist will publish the music. The first
of these is "Suzanne," a John Cort production
with lyrics by William Carry Duncan and music
by Harold Orlob. There is also a new Earl
Carroll production in which that inimitable
comedian, Joe Cook, is to appear. It is entitled
"How's the King?"

An important international contract has just
been closed whereby the Witmark Music
Library of New York City and 'Josef Wein-
berger, of Vienna, Zurich and Leipzig, renew
the rights for a number of famous German and
Austrian operas for American exploitation. The
contract is for a long term of years.
The works include "The Bay," "The Merry
War" and "The Gypsy Baron," by Johann
Straus; "A Trip to Africa," "Boccaccio," "Fati-
nitza," "Clover," "Light Cavalry," "The Beau-
tiful Galatea," by Franz Von Suppe; "The Tyro-
lean," by Carl Zeller; "The Beggar Student,"
"Gasparone," "The Black Hussar," "Poor Jon-
athan," by Carl Milloecker; "The Royal Middy,"
by Richard Genee; "Brother Straubinger," by
Edmund Eysler, and "Amorita," by Alfred
Czibulka.
Through a consolidation these works are han-
dled exclusively by the Tams-Witmark Music
Library, 318 West Forty-sixth street, New
York City, of which Sargent Aborn is the gen-
eral manager.
Fall Promises to Be
Big Sheet Music Season
Totals for August Sales Reached Large
Proportions and Indicate Heavy Demand
Ahead of Trade
This Fall promises to be one of the greatest
sheet music seasons in many years. The totals
for August sales in all catalogs reached huge
proportions and with the arrival of the better
music months these figures should be exceeded.
An example of the large sales totals that
were made by some of the leading publishing
houses is given by the report from Irving
Berlin, Inc., whose entire catalog has shown in-
tensive activity. Such songs as "Yearning,"
"When You and I Were Seventeen," "Yes, Sir,
That's My Baby," "Ukulele Lady," "Oh How
I Miss You Tonight," "Alone at Last," "Sonya,"
"Cecilia" and "On a Night Like This," as well
as several others, all had large sales. With the
new additions to the Berlin catalog made in
recent weeks and which have passed through
the tryout period a larger Fall business is as-
sured.

Sam Fox Publishing Co. Number Scoring With
Orchestra Leaders — Victor Releases First
Record
"Ogo-Pogo," the funny fox-trot and song,
which was an original English success, is fast
repeating its performance in this country. The
Sam Fox Publishing Co., which has issued the
number, is hearing from orchestra leaders from
different sections of the country in which the
number's availability is favorably commented
upon. The first record release of "Ogo-Pogo"
was made for the Victor Co. by Paul White-
man, released the middle of last month. Since
that time the popularity of this novelty has
increased at a rapid rate and indicates that this
unusual offering will be one of the big numbers
of the Fall season.
