Ben Landay Married
Among the events of interest to the trade
last week was the marriage of Ben Landay, the
popular young vice-president of the Progressive
Musical Instrument Corp., to Miss Lillian
Schwarzer. The ceremony was held in the ball-
room of the Hotel Astor and was followed by
a large reception, which was attended not only
by prominent members of the trade but also by
a number of New York celebrities.
The bridegroom has always numbered most
of the leading theatrical stars among his friends
and from among them was recruited a good bit
of talent which enlivened the reception. Among
them were Eddie Cantor, Cliff Edwards, Georgie
Price and others. Music for dancing was sup-
plied by Hen Bernie and His Hotel Roosevelt
Orchestra. The Landays are spending a short
honeymoon in Florida and Cuba.

Increases Floor Space
CHICAGO, I I I . , January 12.—The wholesale de-
partment of the Chicago Conn Co. has been
compelled to increase its floor space because
of pressure of increasing* business. This de-
partment, which is under the management of
J. L. Luellen, now occupies the entire fourth
floor of the building at 339 South Wabash ave-
nue. The wholesale department has also found
it necessary to add six more employes to its
staff, according to Mr. Luellen, who expects
that this year will be a record-breaker.

Mark
The new year has opened up well for the
wholesale small goods house of Gretsch & Bren-
ner, Inc., 42-48 East Twentieth street, New
York, according to Walter Gretsch, one of the
members of the firm. Orders coming in from
dealers thus far have been substantially ahead
of last year and indicate a healthy condition
of the market. A particularly good demand is
reported for G. LeBlanc and Guy Humphrey
clarinets and wood-winds, two of the exclusive
lines of the firm. Other exclusive lines that
are selling well include A. Sprinz French horns,
C. Kruspe flutes and piccolos, Eug. Van Doren
hand-made reeds and the Richard Weichold
strings.
