ward as the leader of the li ne. Miss Webb re­
cently pur chased an A coustigrand for her own
conce rt work.

ROCHESTER, N. Y., December II. - Several
branches .of the Maseline Music Shoppe, whose
central s tor e is a t 136 Fran\din s tr ee t, h ave been
established here recently. At p resen t Mr. Mase­
line is operating s tor es at Thurston road and
P enh ur st, at 434 Am es s treet and at SO Lake
avenue. Th e new bra nches were es tabli s hed,
accordin g to Mr. Maseline, t o keep down the
overhead expense. The B aldwin lin e of pianos
as weIl as complete lines of phonographs, rec­
ord a nd musical merchandise are carried.

Miss Le Grand began her musical career at
t he age of five, when s he appeared in her first
concert. Prof. Arthur Nikisch, famous peda-

her re ma rka ble talent. He made her his m usi­
cal protege, advising her concerning teachers
and st udi es and in gene ral directing her musical
education.

sic, a pupil o f Weidenbach, Reinick e and Lisz t.
With this able tutela ge, Miss Le Grand de­
veloped into a pianis t o f exceptional technic
and great musical understandin g; she has won
much recognition throu g h her work in the Far
\Ves t. Reco·rdings made by her for th e Welte­
Mignon (License e) ar e in preparation and will
shortly be announced in the regular mon thly
re leases o f the D e Lu xe Reproducing Roll Corp.
TO OPEN ROCKAWAY MUSIC SHOP
Th e Rockaway Mu sic Shop is the name of a
new music concern which filed papers of incor­
poration in B rook lyn last week. A. and B.
Silver and F. Moss are the inco rporators. The
co nc ern w ill have a capital of $1,000 and will
ha ve Kessler Frost, 32 Co urt stree t, Brooklyn,
as legal representative.
