The Merchant Who Wanted

KEEN OBSERVER is this man.
He noticed that in drug stores,
in general stores, in shoe stores, in music stores—in any
store—the articles that are advertised, that are of known,
definite and standard value, move from the shelves quickly.
He noticed that the successful merchants paid less atten-
tion to the possibility of marking up the price of an article than
they did to the rate at which it sold.
He noticed that invariably the articles that had merit and
were moderately priced, made money faster for the merchant
than the extremely high-priced or the extremely low-priced.
When he engaged in the music business he had one object
in view — the player-piano with the best turn-over record.
His choice was the Gulbransen.
