COL. HOLLENBERG ENTHUSIASTIC OVER DE FOREEST TRIP
"Father" of Music Merchants' Association Sets Forth the Far-reaching Effects That May Be Ex-
pected From the Personal Visitations of the Association President
Alex. McDonald, vice-chairman of the Jubilee
Convention committee, received last week from
Col. Hollenberg, of Little Rock, a highly enthu-
siastic letter regarding- the proposed coast-to-
coast trip of M. V, DeForeest, Alex. McDonald
and Chas. Jacob, in the interest of the National
Association of Music Merchants and the Music
Industries Chamber of Commerce.
Col. Hollenberg has well been styled the
"father" of the Merchants' Association, and has
given most generously of his services in pro-
moting the organization of the trade. It is the
purpose of Col. Hollenberg to join the party
when it reaches the Southwest and add his per-
sonal aid in the cause.
In his letter to Mr. McDonald Col. Hollen-
berg says: "I have just heard the news that our
president, Mr. DeForeest, accompanied by Chas.
Jacob, yourself, and others, is contemplating a
coast-to-coast trip, stopping at central points in
many of the States, where you will meet with
the dealers and explain to them and talk with
them of the many interesting features of the as-
sociation work which has been carried on during
the last year or two. There are many dealers
throughout the country, no doubt, who really
are not fully advised of the splendid work that
is being done by the various bureaus and depart-
ments of the Music Industries Chamber of Com-
merce. It is really a wonderful thought and a
wonderful work and the Merchants' Association
may certainly be proud of a president like Mr.
DeForeest, who so generously and capably gives
of his time and money for the aid of the Asso-
ciation and the members thereof. This trip, of
course, is not contemplated from any other point
of view than that of being of service to the As-
sociation and to the dealers throughout the coun-
try, and I repeat that we may be very proud,
indeed, of Mr. DeForeest and the other gen-
tlemen who are accompanying him to give their
time and to pay their own expense, doing it all
for the glory of our splendid trade.
"I am sure that the dealers throughout the
different States will welcome these gentlemen
with open arms, that they will invite the dealers
from all parts of the State to assemble in the
particular city in which this committee will
visit, so that by having all the dealers there the
time of this committee will be saved and the
wonderful plans and ideas which they will pre-
sent at the various meetings will at one stroke
be presented to all the dealers throughout the
State there assembled.
"I can conceive of no work which would be of
more far-reaching, beneficial effect to our entire
trade than this, and I can conceive of nothing
more magnanimous than that Mr. DeForeest
and these gentlemen are giving their time and
their money to carry out the plan. We owe them
in advance our thanks for the great thoughtful-
ness and their generosity and we will throw
open our arms to meet them from place to place
as they journey along, and I am sure that their
trip will result in great good, not alone to the
Association, but more particularly to the dealers
whom they meet and who thereby learn what
gfeat work is being done throughout the country
by all who are interested in music and, knowing
what is being done, who may in turn carry out
local plans in .their specific vicinities. Please
convey my highest appreciation to Mr. DeFor-
eest and to the gentlemen who join him on this
trip. Give them my -best wishes and if any-
where along the line or at any time I can assist
them or perhaps join them for a few days I will
be very glad and very proud of the opportunity
to do so."

world, an indication that the durability and qual-
ity of Milton pianos is being expounded con-
tinuously wherever music is appreciated, re-
gardless of tongues and nationalities. Of espe-
cial interest is the accompanying advertisement,
which appeared in the book issued by Sale &
Frazar Geppo, the world-known merchants, with
headquarters at Tokyo, Japan, and with branches
in every large city in the Orient. It will be
noted that pictures talk alike in all languages, as
the illustration in this advertisement is a
familiar one to all Milton dealers in this country
as being one of a series that has been sup-
plied to Milton representatives. Familiar as the
picture may seem, we are sure, however, that
there are few people in the United States who
can correctly decipher the wording of this ad-
vertisement, although the Milton Piano Co. is
willing to go on record as stating that it means
that the Milton piano is a durable, toneful and
wonderful instrument.
The Kelley Music Co., Fairmont, W. Va., has
moved to a handsome new store in that city
and has just received a large shipment of new
instruments.
