George Meyer on First Visit to Pacific Coast—
Some Songs That Are Popular
SAN FRANCISCO, CAL., September 17.—George
Meyer, the popular songwriter, visited in this
city recently, accompanying Artie Mehlinger in
Meyer's "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" at the
Orpheum Theatre. This is Mr. Meyer's first visit
to the Pacific Coast and he is quite charmed
(as are all others) wi-th the famous climate and
scenery of the Golden State. He speaks with
enthusiasm of the reception which he received
from musical people of San Francisco. From this
city Mr. Meyer continued his Orpheum engage-
ment in Los Angeles.
"Melody," the beautiful piano piece written by
Erigadier General Charles G. Dawes (Gamble,
Hinged Co., Chicago), is becoming one of the
best sellers which the sheet music department
of Sherman, Clay & Co. is now handling. The
piece is all the more interesting from the fact
that General Dawes' distinguished literary work,
"Journal of the Great War," in two volumes, is
at this time attracting much attention from book
reviewers.
"Bimini Bay," by Ray Kgan, Dick Whiting
and Gus Kahn (Jerome H. Remick & Co.). is
making a great hit in San Francisco. Tt was
first featured here at one of the local theatres
and since that time all the anti-prohibitionists
have hurried to buy copies.
TO PRODUCE "HANDS OFF"
"Hands Off," a farce with music written by
Frank Bacon (the "Lightnin'" star), Joe Mc-
Kiernan and Milt Hagen, is slated for Fall pro-
duction sponsored by private capital. The two
last-named collaborators hail from California,
and are better known as popular songsmiths.
Mr. Ba"con supplied the libretto.
The same trio completed a musical comedy,
"Tahoe," which will follow the "Hands Off" pro-
duction.

TO MOVE "PUT AND TAKE"
Colored Musical Revue to Be Moved to the Cen-
tury Promenade
"Put and Take," the all-colored musical revue
now appearing at the Town Hall, New York,
may be removed to the Century Promenade, ac-
cording to the present plans of the producers. It
is having a successful run in its present quarters,
but the management of the Town Hall, which
was conceived and built for civic purposes and
"town meetings," has not taken kindly to the
long run which is evidently scheduled for the
show. The score of "Put and Take" is published
by Perry Bradford, Inc., Gaiety Theatre Build-
ing, New York City.
R. H. Nielson, for the past fourteen years
associated with Fisher's Music Co., Tucson,
Ariz., has opened a new music store in that
city. French pianos, sheet music and small
goods will be handled.
