SAN FRANCISCO, CAL., April 25.—A fiery song to
stir up local patriotism throughout the northern
part of California and set forth the advantages
and delights of living in that territory is wanted
by the business community which has started a
drive to popularize northern California. Tlie
citizens are a unit in the boost campaign, which
is to cost several million dollars and last over
a term of years.
Sherman, Clay & Co. and the California
Theatre have offered $250 for the prize-winning
song to fulfill the foregoing requirements. The
Mayor of San Francisco and E. P. Little, of
Sherman, Clay & Co., are on the jury of award.
Fete Wendling, New York song writer of wide
reputation, is giving '"tips" to the contestants
through the newspapers and is being widely
interviewed. Mr. Wendling has also placed one
of his new numbers with Sherman Clay & Co.
for publication.
