BRITISH PUBLISHERS COMPLAIN
NEW FEIST DANCE FOLIO
Contracts recently were closed by the Cen-
tury Music Co. with eight of the leading na-
tionally known magazines for the 1921 adver-
tising campaign, in which, as usual, the "Century
Edition" will be featured. The following are
the publications that will carry the Century
copy:
Good Housekeeping, The Delineator, Pictorial
Review, The Woman's Home Companion,
Mother's Magazine, Musical Courier, Red Book
and McClure's.
British music publishers are complaining that
large quantities of cheap popular music are ar-
riving from the United States. These publishers
state that they cannot sell in the United States
on account of the prohibitive tariff which is
placed on imported music there, while on the
other hand this music is admitted into Great
Britain duty free. Italy and Germany are also
reported to be sending consignments of such
music, to the consequent detriment of the Brit-
ish industry.
Leo Feist, Inc., has just issued a new dance
folio which includes the latest song hits ar-
ranged as fox-trots, one-steps and waltzes. The
retail price of the new folio is one dollar, with
an introductory offer to the trade that gives the
dealer close to two hundred per cent profit. This
new book has been issued in a quality way and
has a most attractive title page. Mention of it
will be made in much of the Feist advertising
material.
"HEART OF MINE" RECORDED
WM. KENT USING "SHADOW"
"Heart of Mine," the new fox-trot ballad pub-
lished by Jack Mills, Inc., is booked for early
release on a number of the leading talking ma-
chine records and player rolls. "Heart of
Mine" is from the pens of Sydney Caine, Annelu
Burns and Madelyn Shepard.
William Kent, who up to some time was
playing in "Pitter Patter" at the Longacre
Theatre, New York, opened recently in Ray
Goetz's "Vogues and Vanities" in Springfield,
Mass., in which he features the new novelty
song, "Shadow," written by Kendis & Brock-
man, known as the "James" boys. "Vogues
and Vanities" will shortly open in Boston, where
it is booked for a long run.
