Assumes New Position With the Maurice Rich-
mond Music Co., Inc.
Leo Friedman has just been appointed sales
manager for the Maurice Richmond Music Co.,
Inc.
Mr, Friedman is one of the best-known
of the younger sales managers, and has been
connected for the past few years with several
live .publishing houses.
Jack Robbins, general manager of the Rich-
mond company, has recently been adding to his
sales and professional staff and from all indica-
tions the firm plans a busy Summer.
Reproduced below is an item that recently
appeared in one of the London papers which
again demonstrates, as reports have constantly
shown during the past few months, that Amer-
ican musical works are in their ascendancy as
far as popularity in English territory is con-
cerned.
"The Prince of Wales has sent a request to
Mr. de Courville for the music and the lyrics
of the song called 'Me-Ow,' which is sung by
Miss Anita Elson in the 'Whirligig,' at the Pal-
ace Theatre, which the Prince of Wales saw last
week. He is desirous of taking them with him
on the 'Renown.'
"The 'Renown' is taking the Prince of Wales
to Australia. 'Me-Ow' has been making a hit
in England. It will now get a royal introduc-
tion to the Antipodes."
"Me-Ow," the number given publicity in this
instance, is from the catalog of the Sam Fox
Publishing Co., Cleveland, O.

E. P. Little, manager of the sheet music and
publishing departments of Sherman, Clay & Co.,
San Francisco, Cal., arrived in New "York early
this week and is stopping at the Republican
Club. Shortly after his arrival he will make a
trip to Boston and Philadelphia, returning to
New York in time for the publishers' and sheet
music dealers' convention, June 14, 15 and 16.
On his way West he will stop at Chicago and
other cities.
The International Association of Civilian
Clubs, an organization formed recently in Bir-
mingham, Ala., with the motto, "Builders of
Good Citizenship," has offered a prize of $100
for an official song. The contest is open to
American song writers and composers, and will
not end until October 1.

Our
Joe Keit, of Jerome H. Remick & Co., left
New York on Thursday of last week for a
short visit to Boston, where the new musical
play, "The Poor Little Ritz Girl," recently
opened and for which Remick & Co. publish
the score. Upon Mr. Keit's return to New
York, he will leave for Chicago and other
Middle West centers.
