LEO FRIEDMAN NOW SALES MANAGER
Assumes New Position With the Maurice Rich-
mond Music Co., Inc.
Leo Friedman has just been appointed sales
manager for the Maurice Richmond Music Co.,
Inc.
Mr, Friedman is one of the best-known
of the younger sales managers, and has been
connected for the past few years with several
live .publishing houses.
Jack Robbins, general manager of the Rich-
mond company, has recently been adding to his
sales and professional staff and from all indica-
tions the firm plans a busy Summer.
Reproduced below is an item that recently
appeared in one of the London papers which
again demonstrates, as reports have constantly
shown during the past few months, that Amer-
ican musical works are in their ascendancy as
far as popularity in English territory is con-
cerned.
"The Prince of Wales has sent a request to
Mr. de Courville for the music and the lyrics
of the song called 'Me-Ow,' which is sung by
Miss Anita Elson in the 'Whirligig,' at the Pal-
ace Theatre, which the Prince of Wales saw last
week. He is desirous of taking them with him
on the 'Renown.'
"The 'Renown' is taking the Prince of Wales
to Australia. 'Me-Ow' has been making a hit
in England. It will now get a royal introduc-
tion to the Antipodes."
"Me-Ow," the number given publicity in this
instance, is from the catalog of the Sam Fox
Publishing Co., Cleveland, O.

Author of "Desertland" Places a New Number
With the Riviera Music Co.
Ethwcll Hanson, composer of "Desertland,"
has just placed in the catalog of the Riviera
Music Co., Chicago, 111., a new number entitled
' Sweet Southern Dream," a song to which the
Kiviera company will give much public.ty i:i
the near future.
The Riviera firm are making rapid strides
and they are constantly adding to their sa.es
staff in an effort to cope with the present de-
mands for their works.
J. O'Brien, sales manager of the company,
is now visiting a number of Scuthern cities in-
troducing the entire catalog, and especially fea-
turing the number "Desertland." The Riviera
Music Co. have some unusual methods of dis-
tribution, and they offer the dealer much in the
way of co-operation.
Florence Tosch, director of the professional
department, is now in Eastern territory, and is
looking after the firm's interests in both trade
and professional circles. The Riviera com-
pany are using publicity in many of the daily
papers in Middle West cities. Much of the copy
is in the form of announcements of the appear-
ance of professionals singing Riviera songs at
various theatres.

Clemens, has just been added one of real heart
interest, which she has published under the title
'Daddy's Baby Girl.' Both lyrics and music are
from her pen."
