A WELL TRAVELED MAN
Russell O. Weiss Gets Inspiration for Sam Fox
Co. Publicity Through Actual Contact With
the Music Retailers in All Sections
Russell O. Weiss, of the advertising depart-
ment of the Sam Fox Pub. Co., Cleveland, O.,
is now making a trade trip covering much of

the territory in the East and points in Canada,
following which he will go to the Pacific Coast
and intervening territory.
Mr. Weiss feels that he holds a record for
long-distance traveling, having covered 26,000
miles in one year exploiting the Sam Fox pub-
lications. Mr. Weiss, from the dealer's stand-
point, is one of the most widely known of any
of the publishers' representatives and he makes
it a point of assisting the trade with ideas and
suggestions wherever he stops. He considers
the fact that he keeps in close touch with the
trade in various parts of the country an excep-
tional help to him in preparing the advertising
copy of the various songs which his firm fea-
tures from time to time. It is his opinion that

the season of 1919-20 will prove one of the most
successful and prosperous in the history of the
sheet music business. He also is of the opinion
that this success will apply to other branches
of the industry, including the concert, profes-
sional, band and orchestra, operatic world,
schools, conservatory, etc.
Mr. Weiss is a great believer in the value of
the trade paper and encourages the dealers
everywhere to constantly read the departments
devoted to their interest.
TARRANT TO STAY IN NEW YORK
Samuel O. Tarrant, who for many years has
traveled for the house of T. P>. Harms &
Francis, Day & Hunter, will in the future dis-
continue his periodical call on the sheet music
trade and will confine most of his activities to
the New York office.
Mr. Tarrant feels with the eve'r-increasing de-
mands for his firm's issues he will be able to
serve his clientele to better advantage by look-
ing after their interests from the home office.
BRINGS SUIT OVER SHOW TITLE
George W. Lederer, producer of the Victor
Herbert show, "Angel Face," now running in
the West, is attempting to stop a Western pro-
ducer from using for the title of his show "My
Once in a While." Lederer claims that the show
title is an infringement of the title of the song
"I Might Be Your Once in a While," which is
one of the feature numbers of the Lederer
production.
Frank B. Hughes has written the words and
music of the number entitled "Our Hero Dead,"
which is being published by the Hughes Pub.
Co., of Worcester, Mass.
