RECENT KNABE AMPIC0 RECITAL
Marguerite Volavy Appears at Recital Given at
Briarcliff Lodge
At the request of the Briarcliff. Lodge, Briar-
cliff Manor, N. Y., and the Nassau Hotel, Long
Beach, N. J., Wm. Knabe & Co., New York,
have arranged to give Knabe Ampico compari-
son recitals similar to those which have been
given in different cities throughout the country.
The first of these recitals was given Thurs-
day evening at the Briarcliff Lodge, and was
attended by an enthusiastic audience of music
lovers, including a number of well-known mu-
sicians.
Marguerite Volavy, the famous
pianist, was the soloist at this recital together
with Miss Marie Louise Wagner, soprano. This
recital, which was a pronounced'success, follow-
ed the general lines of the comparison recital
given recently at the National Music Show in
Chicago, and the audience was amazed at the re-
markable fidelity which characterized the repro-
duction of Mine. Volavy's records on the Am-
pico.
PATENTS REWINDING MECHANISM
WIND MOTORS for PLAYER-PIANOS
WASHINGTON, D. C , June 18.—Paul I. Burks,
Louisville, Ky., was last week granted Patent
No. 1,228,527 for a winding and rewinding mech-
anism for note-sheets.
The object of this invention is to provide an
improved mechanism for alternately driving the
music roll and take-up roll and for controlling
the speed of the rolls when not driven; to pro-
vide an improved shifting device for the driv-
ing mechanism; and to provide a flushing valve
for the exhaust chamber of the pneumatic ac-
tion.
Also all kinds of Pneumatics and Supplies
There is but ONE PIANOLA
exclusively
equipped with an emergency device operated by-
means of rolls, putting all the resources of the
instrument at the disposal of even an operator
without technical skill. The instrument also
contains a piano of highest artistic merit.
The new instrument is in no sense an experi-
ment, but an outgrowth and evolution of the
wonderful results obtained by the American
Photo Player Co. with the Fotoplayer, and also
the success obtained in providing pipe organs
for schools, churches, and orchestral organs for
theatres. The genius of Spencer, Elliott, Wil-
liams, Streiter, Burt Van Valkenburg and Hal
Van Valkenburg is found in the success of the
Robt. Morton Symphonic Orchestra. The in-
strument reproduces the music of all of the in-
struments in a symphony orchestra either in the
ensemble or for solo work.
The Robt. Morton Symphonic Orchestras are
built to order, and it is declared to be advis-
able, in the construction of new houses, to have
the architects confer with the American Photo
Player Co. in order to secure the maximum of
efficiency. These instruments range in price
from $7,500 to $50,000.
