Moves to New Offices on West Fifty-first Street,
New York City—Many Advantages Are Of-
fered by New Quarters of Concern
The executive offices of the New York Piano
Hardware Co., which have been located in the
Equitable Building, 120 Broadway, New York,
will be moved on September 1 to the factory of
the company at 168-172 Southern Boulevard.
Geo. W. Coughlan, president of the company,
will be permanently located at the new offices,
it having been found more advisable to move
them to the factory, where the manufacturing
will be under the direct supervision of the ex-
ecutives of the company.
At the present time E. T. Rouvet, who repre-
sents the company on the road, is traveling
through the West where he will remain for
some time. From last reports he is having much
success on his present trip, upon the termina-
tion of which he will visit the piano trade
throughout the Eastern States.
The new foundry which was recently installed
at the plant, and exclusively announced in The
Review some time ago, has been found none too
large to meet the demands of the trade. Plans
are already made to enlarge the plant further
so that the requirements of the piano industry,
so far as hardware is concerned, will be prompt-
ly taken care of.
HINTS FOR WENEER USERS
Prompt drying is one good way to prevent
sap stain during the summer months, and
prompt drying is a good idea at any time.
One way to reduce the freight item on veneer
is to buy it cut to specific dimensions and ready
to lay, thus leaving the waste incident to trim-
ming at the veneer plant.

HANDY STOPS FOR VENEER CLIPPERS
While showing me through his department,
says a writer in Veneers, the foreman of a
three-ply fir veneer plant called my attention
to an ingenious set of stop gauges and buttons
for operating them at the clipper. The but-
tons, not unlike those of a typewriter, were di-
rectly in front of the clipperman. When a but-
ton is pressed it operates a stop back of the
clipper, so that the proper width desired is cut
exactly.
"We have the allowance for shrinkage and
trimming figured out just right," he explained,
"so that the waste from trimming after the ve-
neer is glued is reduced to a minimum. Good
veneer logs are hard to get and high-priced,
so we want to get all we can out of those we
use."
