That Melodious Song
Boston, Mass., Oct. 14, 1912.
The Boston Music Publishers' Association varied
their winter's program somewhat on Wednesday
night, October 9, by meeting at Young's Hotel in-
stead of the Parker House, as they usually do.
There was an attendance of twenty-nine members
and Walter M. Bacon, president of the association
presided. After an excellent dinner, such as
Young's Hotel knows so well how to serve, the
presiding officer called upon the guest of honor,
W. C. Garcelon, the instructor of athletics at Har-
vard, for an address, and for a half-hour Mr.
Garcelon talked interestingly of Harvard life from
the athletic point of view, told of what is being
done at the university in the way of bodily de-
velopment of its students, and gave a word picture
of some of the famous athletes which the college
has produced in the past. President Bacon and
several of the others present made a few im-
promptu remarks mostly dealing with conditions
of trade.

A BALLADJJF"SENTIMENT.
Ted S. Barron is adding to his fame through
some recent ballads which he has composed, nota-
bly "Paradise for Two," and more recently the
song, "If Ever I Forget You," with words by
Frank Tannernhill, Jr. This is a ballad of senti-
ment thp.t appeals to all music lovers, admirably
scored, and should find a large market and prove
an antidote to the surfeit of ragtime. Needless to
say, the composition is published by the Jerome &
Schwartz Publishing Co., 22*2 West Forty-sixth
