lightful song hits of the Chauncey Olcott show
which made a tremendous hit at the Columbia
Theater recently, and the latest works of the
gifted composer and orchestral conductor, Her-
man Perlet, whose interesting address on Chamber
Music, given at the first annual convention held
by the Music Teachers' Association of California,
piece is decidedly original, and especially in the
chorus is of the character that is readily whistled.
No better indication of the fact that the new
song has caught on is required than the number
of professionals who are featuring the song in
practically every section of the country. This
means, naturally, that the song will be brought to
the attention of the public in a very thorough man-
ner, and that its natural attractiveness will result
in strong demands on the dealers for copies. That
this demand is already being felt is proven by the
orders received at the headquarters of Chas. K.
Harris, which are taken to be only the advance
guard, and there is every indication that the early
fall will see the new song on the top wave of
popularity throughout the country.
NEW PUBLISHING HOUSE.
Clarice Manning, Well Known Traveler,
Head of Clarice Manning & Co.
at
Clarice Manning & Co., with offices at 115 West
Forty-fifth street, are the latest addition to the
list of New York music publishers, the head of
the new company being Miss Clarice Manning,
who is well known to the trade throughout the
country owing to her years of experience as trav-
eling representative for various prominent pub-
lishers. Miss Manning has already succeeded in
placing "My Aviating Summer Girl," a decidedly
catchy novelty song, and "Lolita in Old Madrid,"
a Spanish waltz song, with a large number of
vaudeville acts and burlesque companies, and is
also featuring "Love, Let Me Dream on Forever,"
"My Magnolia Maid, 1 ' "In Love's Garden Alone
Am I," and "The Dance of the Virgins," the lat-
ter a distinctly high class number by A1. Steven-
son, a talented young composer, who will write
for this house exclusively. While accumulating
a large popular catalog, the majority of the num-
bers of which she has composed herself, Miss
Manning will give much attention to the higher
class music, believing that there is a big field for
that class of music. She is at present planning a
trip to the Pacific coast for the purpose of in-
troducing her new line to the dealers.
