THE
CHICAGO SMALL GOODS TRADE
Of Large Proportions This Spring—Many Travel-
ers in the City—Some Big Orders Placed.
[Special to The Review.]
Chicago, 111., March 8, 1904.
This week about closes the so-called spring 1
small goods market in Chicago, with cities
within 500 miles contributing sources of en-
viable orders. Direct representatives of the
foreign houses who have been on the spot
journey eastward to-day, expecting to be on
deck and ready for other "unconsidered tri-
fles" from miscellaneous buyers on Monday.
Stories of the big bills that materialized dur-
ing this active selling campaign are backed
up by the documents sealed, signed and de-
livered. For example, one dominating mail
order house in the Windy City, where these
institutions—not altogether admirable from a
strictly trade point of view—thrive and mul-
tiply, placed an order amounting to probably
$30,000. One item alone was for over 800
cornets of a certain number, other goods be-
ing bought in proportion. While this was the
king order not a few besides ran into the
thousands, the brass goods, which sell heavily
West, leading the list.

CONVINCING REGINA TESTIMONY.
The special announcement of the Regina
Co., 11 East Twenty-second street, shown on
page 18 of last week's Review, is exciting
much interest in the trade as being a most
effective presentation of facts regarding the
Regina products. The testimony of Grin-
nell Bros., Detroit, as shown in the an-
nouncement, indicates the trend of the trade
regarding the music-box industry. The state-
ment of the Thiebes-Stierlin Music Co., St.
Louis, that "our sales (of Regina) are con-
stantly increasing," and that of Sherman,
Clay & Co., San Francisco: "Our sales of
Reginas for 1903 were just double those of
1902," are conclusive evidence of Regina
success, based on Regina merits and Regina
progressive methods. The question asked at
the foot of the page: "If you are not profit-
ing by the increasing demand for Reginas—
why not?" is a pertinent one, calling for the
attention of all dealers who have not yet
handled the Regina.
