FROM "THE HOUSE OF HITS".
Blossom Seeley, the charming comedienne,
makes a big hit this season with "Maizy,
my Dusky Daisy." Louise Latour was re-
cently at Proctor's 125th street Theatre,
where she sang "When They Play God Save
the King." The two Norrises are featuring
"Every Darkey Had a Raglan On" and
"When Raslus Went to Gay Paree." J.
Aldrich Libbey, one of the greatest singers
on the American vaudeville stage, created
much attention recently in San Erancisco,
where she was singing "When They Play
God Save the King." Miss May Walsh is
singing that beautiful ballad, "Don't Wear
your Heart Upon your Sleeve," and she has
written to the publishers that she is encored
repeatedly at every performance.
Bessie
Lamb is making a special feature of "The
Ghost of a Coon," "When Zacharias Leads
the Band" and "When Rastus Went to Gay
Farce." Johnnie Carroll scored recently in
Chicago with "Maizy, my Dusky Daisy,'
"Rosabelle," "Ha-le, Ha-lo" and "The Tur-
key and the Turk." The Doherty Sisters
are singing "My Little Jungle Queen" and
"Parthenia."
THEIR LATEST HITS.
Howley, Haviland & Dresser have a few
new songs out this month: "The Soldier's
Bride," by M. J. Fitzpatrick; "The Sound of
my Sweetheart's Name," by Will D. Cobb
and Albert Johns ; "If the Sunshine of Love
is There," by E. P. Moran and Kelso Mur-
dock; "Nothin' But a Coon," by Frank Ab-
bott and Ben Jerome, and seven songs from
the late lamented "Champagne Charlie."
Two new instrumental pieces are "Funeral
March of a Sunfish" and "Big Guns" march
by S. Avolo, of the world-renowned Xylo-
phone Avolos.
VALUABLE AUTOGRAPHS.
The Berlin Royal Library has just ac-
quired a valuable collection of autographs
of lrusicians. It was made by Artaria, pub-
lisher of many of Beethoven's works,'who
got the best part of it for a few hundred
florins from Beethoven's heirs when that
composer died. There are 93 autographs of
Beethoven, including some of his famous
works; 32 of Haydn, and others by Schu-
bert, Rossini, Paganini, etc. After keeping
these ten years the Artaria family offered
them for sale by auction. To prevent the
collection from being scattered, Dr. Erich
Prieger, of Bonn, paid $50,000 for it, ex-
pecting the Prussian government to buy it
from him. It has now, after four years of
negotiating, done so, but for the same sum
that he paid.
