PIANO AND ORGAN
FELTINGS
WE learn that The Braumuller Piano Company have
decided to locate their factory at No. 423 Eleventh
avenue, N. Y., North of Thirty-fifth street. Their fac-
tory building has four stories, and its capacity will per-
mit of a weekly output of fifteen pianos.
JAMES ABBOTT & SON, the well-known action makers
of Fort Lee, N. J., inform us that in about six weeks
they will have doubled their present factory facilities.
Their business is booming, and they are far behind
with orders.

Upright grand Piano,
THE firm of Behr Brothers & Co. have capped all
their other grand achievements by the perfecting of
their new grand piano action. The instruments con-
taining this action possess a touch which is at once a
marvel to the average manufacturer, and an unpre-
cedented boon to the pianist. The patent was granted
on June 4th, ult. Messrs. Behr Bros. & Co. are entitled
to the heartiest congratulations and thanks of all wfio
are interested, nearly or remotely, in the advance of the
piano-makers' art ; for this invention gives a touch
the beauties of which so far surpass all former attain-
ments in this important particular as alone to immor-
talize this illustrious house.

THREE more grand pianos have been ordered by the
City of Boston, for use in the public schools of that
city, from the Henry F. Miller & Sons Piano Co.
IT is announced that Hugo Kraemer, formerly with
the T. F. Kraemer Co., N. Y., contemplates starting in
business on his own account.
STRAUCH BROTHERS, N. Y., the famous piano action
makers, have recently patented another important im-
provement in the repeating grand action. The trade of
this house has greatly increased during the present
year.
MAX MEYER & BROTHER, Omaha, Neb., have lost
their collector, one Edward McCollich. Mr. McCollich
was last heard of in Lincoln, Neb. At the time of his
disappearance he had failed to account for about $250
of his employers' money.
THE Century Piano & Organ Co., Minneapolis, Minn.,
furnished the Henry F. Miller & Sons Piano Co's artists
grand piano used at the concerts of the North-Western
Saetigerfest in that city on the 20th and 21st ult.
H. W. HALL, of Bayley's Music Rooms, Burlington,
Vt., has just sold a fine Sterling E piano, in mahogany
case, to the editor of the'Mon'tpelier (Vt.) Argus, whose
editorial articles, since the famous instrument came into
his possession, have been singularly lucid and bright.
ISAAC I. COLE & SON, foot of Eighth street, East
River, N. Y., have just cut and sawed some very fine
figured mahogany. Their stock also includes a quantity
of unusually handsome blistered walnut.
OWING to the illness of Mr. Mowry, the esteemed
representative of the A. B. Chase Company, Norwalk,
O., the Eastern route of that gentleman is being cov-
ered by Mr. S. B. Smith.
THE Philadelphia (Pa.) agency of Sohmer & Co.,
New York, has passed from the hands of Charles Bias-
ius & Sons into the keeping of C. W. Kennedy & Co.
This is one of the most important recent moves in the
music trade. The interests of the great New York
house will be well cared for by Kennedy & Co.
C. H. HENNING, 341 East Eleventh street, N. Y.,
has every inch of room in his factory occupied by work-
men and by pianos at various stages of completion.
Mr. Henning has made marvelous progress consider-
ing the short time that has elapsed since he started
making pianos in his new premises. There must be
true merit here.
D. S. ANDRUS & Co., of Williamsport, Pa., whose loss
on account of the recent flood was about $50,000, are now
in good business form once more. They have ordered
a large new stock of Sohmer pianos.
C. C. MCEWEN, N. Y., continues to do a rushing
trade.
THE pianos of the Sterling Company, Derby, Conn.,
have latterly not only maintained, but increased their
already high reputation. The business of the Chicago
branch of this house has attained enormous proportions.
STURZ BROTHERS, N. Y., appear to be turning out
their pianos with regularity. These instruments are
spoken of as being worth investigation. Their makers
are young men of considerable intelligence and energy,
and should open out for themselves a profitable field of
operations. Industry and sound sense, together with
a good piano, will assuredly assist them toward the
desired goal.
THE Chase Bros. Piano Company, Grand Rapids,
Mich., report a very thriving trade, considering the
time of year. Their piano grows in favor wiih musi-
cal Michiganders, and also in other stales. It is care-
fully constructed under the personal supervision of the
members of the firm, all of whom have graduated with
high honors as practical piano makers.
THE progress of the B. Shoninger Co.'s (New Haven,
Conn., Chicago, 111., and New York City,) piano trade
surpasses their most sanguine anticipations.
THE retail trade of Sohmer & Co., N. Y., was* im-
mense during the month of June.

Thomas's business is in excellent condition, and he
himself is in high spirits. He is, in fact, La Sublime
Porte.
Mr. W. C. TAYLOR, of Taylor's Music House, Spring-
field, Mass., accompanied by Mr. F. W. Howe, a very
efficient young gentleman who has been some time
with the firm, made a very pleasant call at the office
of this paper on Friday last. While in New York Mr.
Taylor left substantial orders with Steinway & Sons
and Haines Brothers. His sales of these makes, even
within the last month, have been unusually large. Mr.
Taylor remarked, in fact, that he had no reason what-
ever to complain of the condition of business.
THE Dunham piano, manufactured by The Dunham
Piano Company, at Nos. 412, 414 and 416 East 23d
street, N. Y., is, under the able management of Mr
David H. Dunham, rapidly re-assuming its old-time
reputation. Judging by the last illustrated catalogue
issued by this house, it would seem as though they
had secured a new lease of life for another fifty-five
years, The Dunham is among the makes of pianos,
not too numerous, by which the intelligent dealer is
always ready to swear.
AMONG the very numerous testimonials to the value
and worth of the Vocalion organ, manufactured by
Mason & Risch of Toronto, Canada, and represented
in New York by J. W. Currier of 18 East 17th street
is that of the directors of the Toronto Philharmonic
and Choral Societies' concerts, who assert that "during
the present musical season the vocalion organ has been
a new and welcomed factor in the success of such con-
certs," doing the work assigned to the pipe organ under
the hands of the talented organists of these societies,
in the oratorios of " The Messiah " and " Samson,"
supporting most satisfactorily a chorus of over 250
voices, and an orchestra of over 60, and " The Creation,"
on April 4th, 1889, also with a large chorus and orchestra.
