Tavern Sales Jump
25 % with "Hot-Pop"
LOS ANGELES- Bill Evangeloff, vet-
eran vending machine man who heads Ace
Vending & Distributing Co., has concluded
an interesting experiment which proves that
taverns can in crease their bar sales 25 per
cent and operators can net a minimum of
two dollars per week per location with very
little effort on their part.
Bill placed Victor's sensational new
Hot-Pop popcorn dispenser in several
taverns, left two bags of popcorn, and told
the location to prove to himself, without
cost, how Hot-Pop and hot popcorn could
increase his bar sales.
The bartender gave each customer a
small dish of popcorn with the first drink.
Customers who usually bought only one
drink or one beer, ordered a second one
because of the free popcorn, and the loca-
tion found, at the end of the week, that
gross business had risen 25 • per cen t.
"Now," Evangeloff says, "the locations
were interested in continuing to dispense
popcorn, and because of the way it in-
creased sales, they didn't mind paying the
operator two dollars a bag for the corn.
And th e operator, who makes one dollar
profit on each bag sold, realized a 50 per
cent profit. This enabled him to pay for
his Hot-Pops in six months or less!"
Evangeloff added that with -many taverns
complaining about the drop in sales,
Hot-Pop is proving a God-send. "And it's
not only helping bar sales," he said, "but
every other type of coin equipment in the
place, because when you get a man to buy
an extra drink or extra bee.r, he stays in
the location longer and therefore spends
more. That's why music and shuffleboard
operators are now going in for Hot-Pop
JUNE, 1949
in a big way. It not only increases play on
their phonographs and shuffleboards, but
while servicing this equipment, they can
pick up extra profit dollars bv delivering
popcorn to the location for use in Hot-Pop."
Because it is not coin-operated, Hot-Pop
requires no servicing or maintenance.
New "Star" Polish
Hypos Vendor Sales
OAKLAND-Ball gum operators who
have been using the usual • brands and
whose machines have been emptying
slowly are finding that Star ball gum with
the exclusive "Seel-Tite" polish is the
operator's ans')'er to increased volume,
states L. H. Strickler, head of U. S. Chew-
ing Gum Mfg. Co.
'.'At considerable expense and many
months of laboratory testing," Strickler
said, "we developed a product which elim-
inates every complaint ball gum operators
formerly had and provides complete satis-
faction on the part of both operator and
customer.
"Star ball , gum has the new "Seel-Tite"
polish, which seals in the color, flavor and
chew of Star against hea t, cold and damp-
ness for a longer period than any other
ball gum ever made. This means that no
longer does an operator have to throw
gum away because it is discolored or
cracked. Inasmuch as Star regular ball
gum has the same high quality base and
flavoring as nationaliy advertised brands
of stick gum, there is no longer any
customer resistance due to a small chew
or inferior flavor."
