Leuenhagen's famo us Record Bar is be-
ing swamped with orders for Ken Griffin's
You Can't Be True Dear. "Operators all
over the state have been clamoring for
this disc but haven't been able to find
a source of supply," the Record Bar's head
man stated. "We offer immediate delivery
of not only this record, but hit tunes of
more than 65 leading independent labels,
as well."
We knew it was only a matter of time,
and the time is now set: May 14, when
Dorothy Johnson, Sid Bloom's lush-lush
secretary, takes the nuptial vows at Las
Vegas. Lucky half of the announcement
is Ray Diederich, buyer at North Ameri-
can Aviation. Dorothy will cast off the
office garb to don the domestic variety.
Two new members have joined Western
Vending Machine Operators fold: H. L.
Myles and Leonard Mayo.
Donald C. Bevin is now operating five
Kwik-Ka/e coffee vendors, two of which
are located side by side in Technicolor
Studios in Hollywood. They're pouring 900
to 1000 cups daily.
John Conroe, sales manager of J. H.
Keeney & Co., visited here for three days,
during which time he met a host of local
operators and took bows for the Keeney
electric cigarette machine.
California coin circles were sorry to
hear of the death of Art Daws, owner of
Novelty Supply Co., San Diego, who passed
away April 8 after a long illness. Daws
had been operating for the past 25 years.
Stan Rousso, Sto~er representative, has
sold 26 UnivendoTs to the Fox West Coast
Agency in Northern California and an-
other 24 to the Southern California branch.
"These vendors are not going to replace
candy counters; instead, they are being
spotted in balconies and rest rooms to
supplement counter sales," Rousso said.
The Keeney electric cigarette machine
is receiving fine reception at Badger show-
rooms. Orders have flocked in from all
poin ts of Southern California and Arizona.
W. E. Simmons, Packard western sales
manager, is back from a trip through
Nevada and reports sales in that area ex-
cep tionally good. C. D. Kemp, Packard
northwest regional manager, ended April
with the greatest sales volume in the west.
C. D. made his 80 phono quota and won
a trip to Washington, D. C. as guest of
Senator Capehart. Charles Kelly in the
southern California territory took first
place in sales in April and DeLoss Osborn
hit an all time high on sales in the
bay area for Packard.
Regardless of conditions there's always
a crowd of operators in Paul A. Laymons.
