Floyd Brandow, Oregonian Amusement
Co., and wife and baby have just returned
from a trip East. They took the Northern
route and travell ed through Canada, Michi-
gan and way points . . . a pleasure trip
which wa enjoyed by the entire family.
Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Chester B.
Doerr, wife of "Chet" Doerr who pas ed
away Monday, May ' 24th after a prolonged
illness. He was the President of Melody

R. T. "Bob" Jacob, Vice-President of
Jack R. Moore Co., has ju t return ed from
a trip to Boston, Mass., where he and his
wife journeyed to ee their daughter
"Gwen" and huLby and new baby.
Harry Arnsberg of Northwest Amuse-
ment Co. has been in New York for two
weeks on bu ines. Max and Harry Arns-
sid, Long Beach; William Shorey, San Ber-
nardino and Thomas Boddy, Lomita.
Dolores Minthorne was operated upon at
a local hospital on June 12th and is improv-
ing as this issue goes to press.
Paul Laymon is doing a considerable job
in exporting equipment and has made sev-
eral large shipments in recent weeks. Lay-
mon is also doing a bri k business in used
music equipment.

Here's your 01' gal again bringing you-
all item of interest about the Portland
operators. Haven't by-lined this column
since 1942, although I have been closely
in touch with all of the operators and will
be hringing you month-to-month news of
interest to all.
Congratulations to George Schnabel of
Puget Sound Novelty Co. who by opening
his new Oregon branch, the Oregon ov-
elty Co., once more ha proven to his
friends and customers his wish to further
serve this territory. This make three of-
fices in his chain since he already had the
Puget Sound Novelty Co. of Seattle and
Inland Novelty Co. of Spokane. This added
service will keep George husy travelling
around by plane, train and motorcar and
it is his wish that the Oregon branch main-
tain the same dignity, alertness and cus-
tomer "personalized" service for which he
ha made quite a name in the orthwest.
In selecting his "team" to run his Oregon
office, George Schnabel solicited the service
and aid of Helen and Eddie Cusson. We
are not strangers to a great many of you
. . . having been associated with th e Jack
R. Moore Co. for a period of twenty years.

Spokane
City commi sioner, William Payne, ad-
dressed the Ea tern Washington Amuse-
ment assn's recent meeting. The commis-
ioner emphasized the importance of co-
operating with' the city in the matter of
coin-operated machines.
Billy Paradis, of Cre t Novelty, retire
as an official of the local association. Bill
did some fine work for the boys during the
past troublesome year.
Bill Houk, who operates in one of th e
ci ty's large bowling temples, recently took
delivery of a new Oldsmobile.
Bud Miller will handl e the con tributions
to the Stadium Fund by operator . Ten
dollars per machine was et as a minimum
donation in the city, while $5.00 will be
levied in the county.
Ralph Perrin, former manager of the
local branch of Jack R. Moore Co., is now
manager of the Portland unit.
Harold Bray, of Inland Novelty Co.,
local branch of Puget Sound Novelty, re-
ports increase in month's business.
Carmen Shaw, of Coin Machine Service,
has acquired a new Chevrolet pickup to
take care of his brisk business.
J. A. (Bink) Loosmore is now running
his brother Gordon's route.

many years in the operating business.

Doreen Israel, daughter of Mildred Israel

going to marry Marvin Schnetzer on July
18th. Wedding Bells are ringing.
Wedding bells rang for Art Cusson and
Theresa Duffy on May 29th in a church
wedding . . . reception for friends and
relatives was held at the Cusson house in
a bower of flowers . . . they are hon ey-
mooning at "the Mark Hopkins in San Fran-
cisco.
All of this was prepared for press before
the Columbia and Willamette Rivers went
on the rampage . . . whatta sight . . .
houses strewn like kindling over miles ...
many families most lu cky in getting out
with a many as twelve chi ldren ... many
children strayed away from their parent
. . . but the spirit of cooperation of the
Red Cross, Salvation Army, the Police De·
partment, Army and Coa t Guard rallied
after the first urge of water into Van port
and continued vigilance is being main-
tained on the dikes to prevent further
breaks. The rivers are receding but it will
be weeks before we know to what extent
the "Reaper" took hi s toll.

new burst of activity in the two months
since John Nechanicky bought out the
franchise formerly held by George Gunn,
local businessman.
echanicky, whose
brothers are active in the Industry in other
ci ti es throughout the country, came here
from the Portland office of th e Canteen Co.
He i;S rapidly increasing the number of
locations for candy, gum and nut machines,
especially in factories, department stores
and military installations.
The staff at Royal Amusement Co., op-
erators of game, is finding work much
more enjoyable in the newly redecorated
and modernized office. C. P. Curry is in
charge since the recent retirement of B.
W . Cichy, due to ill health.
