MILWAUKEE-A. R. Slade, General
Manager of the Batter-Up Co., manufac-
turers of the Jeter Base Ball Pitching and
Batting game, has been awarded the ex-
clusive United States and Canada distribu-
torship of the "Penguin" Pre-Flight
Trainer manufactured by the California
Aero Glider Co.
Slade states that this pre-flight ground
pilot trainer has been in use for the past
several years in schools, colleges, airports,
C. D. groups, etc., for ground training of
civilian, transport and commercial fliers.
The sudden ending of the war has made
this trainer available to the amusement
field. No factory reconversion was neces-
sary.
Slade reports that the Pre-Flight
Trainer he is offering to the amusement
field is exactly the same as the educational
model with the exception that it does not
contain the instruments for blind flying,
radio, etc. Therefore, by eliminating these
instruments only, all that the company
needed to do was to step up production,
and the Batter-Up Co. promises immediate
three-day delivery to any and all pur-
chasers.
According to Slade, this is not a toy or
a kid's ride, but the customer actually sits
in a regulation cockpit. All controls are
exactly the same as • used for training
pilots for actual flying. This ship looks
and operates exactly the same as a reg·
ulation airplane. It climbs, dives, banks,
spins, stalls and simulates in every re-
spect actual flying conditions. According
to Slade, any person actually interested
in pilot training can save hours of air time
with the qse of this ship and at the same
time, anyone with the "flying fever" can
get plenty of thrills, chills, laughs and

Trainer store 1s already in operation at
Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Des Moines,
Iowa, as well as two stores in Milwaukee.
Coffee Vendor Coming

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-A hot coffee
vending machine is not a distant dream.
This miracle-like machine offering cus-
tomers a cup of steaming hot coffee for a
nickel, will soon be a reality.
Benson Mfg. Co. is turning from full-
time war work to peacetime production
and one of the principal products to be
turned out is the coffee vending machine.
Several models of this machine have
been built at the plant, and many correc- •
tions have been made by the engineering
department, machine shop and tool and
die department. At present a mock-up of
the acceptable design is being produced,
based on features and improvements result-
ing from the earlier experimental models.
The productfon expectation of this ma-
chine is beyond comprehension, and all of
those to whom it has l;ieen submitted have
indicated a tremendous interest. Further
