whe re, because of a double bend in th e
Mississippi river, there is a n area of about
10 square miles belonging to Ke ntucky
that cannot be reached from th e rest of

Silver three-cent pieces were issued from
1851 to 1873. These small coins were con-
sidered a nuisance in bus iness dealings and
th eir coi nage was abol ished.
