ST. LOUIS-The Missouri Amusement
Machine Association and the Associated
Phonograph Owners of St. Louis attended
a special meeting at Hotel Melbourne, on
Oct. 26, to hear Mr. Mason, Regional Di-
rector of the Office of Defense Transporta-
tion, explain the proper method to use in
fillin g out the ~pplication for Certificate
of War Necessity form for Commercial
Vehicles. The presence of Mason at the
meeting was arranged by the executive
committees of the two groups who were
cognizant of the fact that the majority of
the coinmen were perplexed by the phrase-
ology of the directive. Here is some of
the information required on the form:
1. Total miles driven by each truck,
each month in 1941 and 1942.
2. Total gallons of gas used by each
truck each month in 1941 and 1942.
3. Number of trips each truck made
per month in 1941 and 1942.
4. Number of machines each truck
will carry and the average daily
load.
Mason cleared a lot of obscure points
for the coinmen and complimented them
upon the spirit of patriotic cooperation
shown.
Members of the coin machine industry
in the St. Louis area have pitched in with
a will in helping with the nation-wide col-
lection of scrap metal. Besides scouring
their homes and business premises for the
much needed scrap they have loaned their
trucks - and personal services to the com-

Something of a trend was indicated
when the Ideal Novelty Co. purchased
two motorcycles for duty on the routes
at the same tim e that Joe Morris was
reported having bought an Austin for the
same purpose. Conservation of gas, tires,
and trucks is the idea.
Harold Brown, Effingham, Ill. operator,
