In the December REVIEW we published
the Santa Ana (Calif.) Ordinance licensing
arcades and pointed out the fairness of the
measure and that it had been worked out
with the aid and assistance of an Arcade
operator in that city.
This month we are publishing the ordi-
nance covering Arcades in Bakersfield,
Calif., which is equally fair and shows an
intelligent handling of the licensing. It is
suggested that Arcade operators clip these
sample ordinances and use them to their
own advantage as the occasions arise.

scope, lung-tester, muscle-tester, galvanic battery,
weighing machine, or machine of like character.

payable annually in advance.

($.50) per quarter.
All remote control machines operated from a
central station, Two Doll ars and Fifty Cents
($2.50) per quarter for each machine.

For every person, firm or corporation operating
any machine or machines vending any goods,
wares. or merchandise for the sum of One Cent
($.01), a license fee of One Dollar ($1.00) per
year shall be charged for each such machine that
such person, firm or corporation operates or main·
tains, payable annually in advance.
For every person, firm, or corporation operating
or maintaining any machine or machines vending
ice cream, popcorn, candy, soft drinks, cigarettes
or any similar goods, wares, or merchandise for
the sum greater than One Cent ($.01), a license
fee of Three Dollars ($3.00) per year for each
such machine, payable annually in advance.
The above shall not apply to postage stamp
vending machines.
Sec tio n 6
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordi-
nance was passed and adopted by the Council of
, the City of Bakersfield, at a regular meeting
thereof, held on the 22nd day of September, 1941,
by the following vote:
Ayes: Clements, Marmaduke, Norris, Siemon,
