Shelley Has Tubes
LOS ANGELES-Music Operators of the
West were assured of metal tubes for pho·
nograph use with the announcement from
the Shelley Radio Co. that they have large
stocks in reserve and will take care of the
requirements of operators to the best of
their ability.
PHILADELPHIA
Shelley Radio handles the famous Ken·
Rad tube and enjoys the privilege of serv-
ing a great number of the largest music
operators in the West.
PHILADELPHIA-Despite worries about
records and the shortage of new equipment
"The Show Goes On", which means that
the annual banquet and show of the Pho-
nograph Operators Association of Eastern
Pennsylvania and New Jersey was held as
scheduled at the swanky Club Bali on
Sunday evening, May 3rd.
This marked the Fifth Anniversary of the
nation's outstanding industrial organization
and also means that at the most critical
time in our history-and also in the history
of the industry-the operators are going
ahead in a normal manner with their activi-
ties. Expressions of cooperation which
would enable the operators to secure new

been given to Jack Cade, business mana-
ger of the Association, by the three lead-
ing distributors.
Among those who received the applause
and acclaim of their associates were: Wil·
liam King, Prexy'; Jack Cade, recently ap-
pointed business manager; Charles Young,
vice president; Raymond Bernhardt, secre-
tary and Ben Hankin, treasurer.
Special credit for a fine program and
entertainment should be given the mem-
bers of the committee: Ben Hankin, Her-
man Scott, Harold Reese, Harry Elkins,
. Phil Frank, Bert Sheward and Ben Fire-
man. Sam Stern was chairman of the enter-
tainment committee and handled all ar-
rangements.
The banquet will be followed by an ag-
gressive public relations program. A com-
mittee consisting of Jack Cade, Bill King,
Phil Frank and Meyer Cowan visited the
Cleveland Association during April to at-
tend the banquet held on April 27th and to
confer with executives of the Cleveland
and Ohio State Associations regarding the
fine program of publicity and public rela-
tions which had been used in that area
during the past year. All the operators were
loud in their praise of the methods used
by the Cleveland group to gain public rec-
