vendors. Contrary to th e pract ice by this
market, General is givin g the regular Coin
Machine distributors first crack at dis-
tribution.
Accordin g to Atkeso n, all areas are open
with the exce ption of th e P ac ific Coast
states and th e Mi ssouri·Kansas area.
Generally speaking, the tax picture 3'S
regards cigarettes remai ns unchanged. Af-
ter a flurry in th e State Legislature at
Jefferson City, th e representatives went
home with out takin g fin al action wh ich
means that for som e tim e, at least, th e
Kansas City tax will remain. Operators
are still hopeful that an additional National
Defense levy will be made and machin es
may b e moved up in price to a stand ard
20 cents per pack.
