SAN FRANCISCO. (RC}-Latest and
strangest combination in the vending
machine realm is that of attorney and
operator. David Emanuel was walking
past Viking Specialty Co. one day on
the way to his office when he caught

sight of some stationery machines.
" Not a bit bad," he s aid to himself ,
and went in to inquire about them. One
thing led to another, and he now has 80
percent of all the machines located in
the San Francisco department stores-
The Emporium, Hale's, The White House,
City of Paris, O 'Connor-Moffitt's, the
Greyhound bus depot and the Ferry
Building.

Robbins Policy
changed on vendor
distribution.
BROOKLYN, N. Y.-When D. Robbins
& Co. began making 2 in I Vendors
several years ago their policy was to
sell exclusively through distributors who
did no operating. During the past year,
how ever, various changes in the in-
dustry h ave led the majority of distribu-
tors to the point of necessary operating
their ow n , and in tune with the times
Robbins has decided to add distributor-
operators in all territories where the 2
in I Vendor is not already placed.
In man y ways, Robbins feels , the
combination distributor-operator is a
favorable in fluence because the actual
operating experience enables him to
guide the operator better in the profit-
able operation of independent routes.
Coinmen are said to have responded in
large numbers to the offer, largely be-
cause of the new Robbins stimulator
plan which seems to be working out ex-
ceptionally well.
In Detroit the Lemke Coin Machine
Co. which ordered a quantity of the
vendors at the Chicago Show, have
since reordered a considerable quantity
of the double-column nut, confection
and ball gum machines, and Robbins
believes it to be a good indication,
since Henry Lemke is recognized as an
"old-timer. " The Robbins firm also re-
ports a sustained and enthusiastic in-
terest in its appl; v.en~or.
