PROPOSES METERS
and wrong fos busi ness men and others to
move their cars every hour to keep them
from being tagged. Also, by use of the
meters, they claim, it wi ll be possible to
tag the cars of those who have been able
to evade parking restrictions heretofore.
• Columnist feeling opinion by
conducting daily poll.
DENVER.- The City Manager of Safety,
Wi ll iam Gunther, has proposed that the city
install parking meters on the downtown
streets. Considerable interest is being shown
in the proposal by the citizens, and the local
papers have taken conflicting views.
To settle the matter, one widely-read col-
umnist is conducting a poll among his read-
ers to learn their views. Each day, at the
bottom of his column a coupon is printed
calling for a stand and leaving a place for
the name, address and occupation of the
citizen who makes a declaration.
In the column proper he is printing let-
ters received, and to date these have been
favorab le. Most of the public seems to fee l
that it is proper to pay for parked time,

"Kentucky Derby" of automatic

CHICAGO.- While the limitations of a
counter machine make it physically and me-
chanically impossible for a reproduction of
the dynamic thrill of the actual horse race,
its relationship is so direct and the interest
of its similar play is great enough to have
made W es tern Equipment's Reel Races the
.. Kentucky Derby of the automatic amuse-
ment machine industry," according to Jim-
my Johnson, the firm 's head.
Johnson reports that operators are capi-
talizing on this theme and so have been
able to " go to town " in both placements
and income. He reports that simplicity of
operation, jar proof stop and suspense are
responsible for public acclaim, and the
surety of high Western standard makes it
popular with operators. Production 1s in
full force.
