greatly boosted the demand for pen

As well as producing American

supplying coins to several Central and
South American countries.

Unique Machine
Exposition
Early this month Mineola,
Long Island, expected to stage
its own little “coin machine
exhibition.” The show was to
be a unique one, since there
were to be no salesmen in a t
tendance, no buyers, nothing on
display but pin games, and only
one lone spectator.
This one spectator, however,
was to be the district attorney
who had agreed to personally
Play each pin table brought to
the County courthouse at M in
eola before differentiating be
tween games of skill and games
of chance. Tables which possess
an element of skill will be per
mitted to operate in that district
but those which depend upon
chance will not.
The agreement to examine
individually each machine set
UP in the County courthouse
was reached following a confer
ence between Emanuel Cohen,
attorney for the Long Island
Skill Game Operators' Associa
tion, and the district attorney.
Mr. Cohen said that his asso
ciation expected to put more
than forty tables to the test.

A recent report made by the Treas
ury Department states that coinage
by American mints during the first
ten months of this year was greater
than in any full year in the present
decade.
The value and number of coins
minted so far this year have more
than doubled the record set during
the first ten months of 1934, the re
port indicates, and exceed all previ
ous records as far back as 1925.
A total of 434,141,006 coins, valued
at $28,186,143, were minted up to
October 31 of this year. These fig
ures compare with $13,949,066 and
195,510,129 pieces coined during the
same period in 1934.
Treasury officials attribute the in
creased coinage of small silver to the
