“Babe” Surprises
Trade Again

“ Babe” Kaufman, “America’s Only
W oman Jobber,” visited Chicago this
month and startled the trade by plac­
ing a new machine with a prominent
Chicago manufacturer. This proves
that the “Babe” is making good on
her promise to present the trade with
“two new babies.” Arrangements are
said to have been completed with the
Chicago firm to manufacture her m a­
chine but details are not to be an­
nounced for a few weeks.
W hile in Chicago “ Babe” had occa­
sion to meet A rthur Burrows of Lon­
don and his son Arthur, Jr., at a
party of coin machine men, and
chances are that Mrs. Kaufmann
found a match for her wit and humor
in the person of “A rt” Burrows.

W ashington, May 1. — Citing
the fact millions of newspapers
are sold daily at three cents
each, Senator Vandenberg (R.)>
Michigan, introduced a bill re­
cently for coinage of a three-
cent piece. The coin would be
three parts copper and one part
nickel.

Lowers Cost
Bally M anufacturing Company an­
nounces that the extra charge for the
“plug-in” type “ Rocket” has been dis­
continued. This extra charge was due
to the extra cost of the special 110
volt universal motor and other neces­
sary electrical equipment. The de­
mand for t h e “plug-in” “ Rocket” has
now reached such proportions that
great economies in the cost of these
parts have been effected; and Bally
is passing the savings on to their cus­
tomers. The “plug-in” type “ R o c k e t ,”
which is now the same price as the
Battery type, operates direct from
any 110 volt electric light or power
circuit, both Alternating and Direct
Current, any standard frequency.
Jim Buckley, Bally’s general sal^s
manager, states that “Rocket” sales
volume reached new peaks in April,
following favorable decisions which
opened up many new locations and
new territory for the check-separator
Model “Rocket.”
Report Run on
Streamline
Jim Buckley, genera] sales m a n a g e r
of the Bally Manufacturing Company,
reports that the demand for “ Stream­
line” has reached the proportion of
a run. The automatic Progressive
Score Device has appealed to the
trade, says Jim , and production has
had to be speeded up to take care
of the demand.
