transformer assenblies for their sit-down
cabinets, and using the Wells Gardner for
their unrights. This type of action could
keep both models up and running for an
extended period, thus allowing extra life
of all your STAR WARS games.
I hope this bit of information helps some
of you that have had STAR WARS games out
of order. Please remember that you can use
the cabinet after removing the Wells
Gardner rronitor for a conversion by
inserting a raster-scan monitor. You can
make two games, with the above suggestion,
that will earn, money out of pieces that
were dead wood.

RING KING IOCK-UP/NOT STATIC RELATED.
If you are experiencing occasional freeze-
ups that have been determined as not being
caused by static discharges, there are
several modifications that can be
performed that should eliminate the
problem. Oleck to see if the suspect PCB
set has the following modifications and
perform them if necessary.
a) DATA EAST PCB SE!':
The top PCB (DE-0224) may have a Z-80A at
location 6C. Change to a Z-80B type
device. The lower PCB (DE-0225) may have a
Z-80A at location 14F. Change this to a
Z-80B type device.
Check for a capacitor modification on the
lower pcb (DE-0225) at location SC
(74IS08), between pins 7 and 11. This
should have a 100 pf, 50 vdc ceramic disc
at this location. Add this modification if
it has not been done already.
b) ~PIACE PCB SE!':
The top PCB may have a Z-80A at location
llE @d 9H! __ Change th~se to Z-80B type
devices. Check the Eprom at location 9J
and verify that it is a 250 nanosecond
device or faster. Refer to the Eprom Speed
Chart (c) for specific speed information.
Change the Eprom if it is 300 nanoseconds
or slower.
Add two 220 pf capacitors on the top PCB
at the following locations: 14H, 74LS14,
between pins 3 and 7, and 13H, 74LS08,
between pins 3 and 7.
Wl'E: If any of these modifications are
already installed on your PCB set, do not
duplicate. Contact Data F.ast's Service
Departnent for any roore available
information.

SPEED BUGGY U/R MASTER CSCILIA'IDR IDD.
If the Speed Buggy upright gane cones up
occasionally with blue garbage displayed
on the screen and it appears that the sync
is not present, you will need to renove a
capacitor in the master oscillator
circuit. This circuit is found on the
'IC042 PCB. '!he following procedures
explain how to renove the PCB set from the
gane and perform this IOOdification. DO WI'
