WITMARK TRAOE=MARK IN LONDON
EDWARD B. MARKS BACK FROM TRIP
NEW SONGS IN BERLIN CATALOG
"Black and White Series" Now Officially Pro
tected in Great Britain, Where Se ries Have
P roven in G reat Demand
Covers 2,000 M iles by Motor Through Adiron
dacks, White Mountains, Berkshires and
Maine Lakes
A COpy of the Trade-mark Journal, the offi
cial organ of Great Britain in such matters, of
rec ent date has bee n received wi th much inter
est, for it contains a teproduction of the now
familiar trade-mark of M. Witmark & Sons as
re lating excl usively to the still more famous
" Witmark Black and White Series." It was but
a few months back that this trade-mark obtai ned
official registration with the Washington au
thorities 'and now, after ne arly two years' ne
gotiations, the official recognition of the same
significa nt mark appears across the Atlantic.
This trade-mark means ·as much in Great Brit
a in as it do es in Ameri ca, for the success of
the "W itmark Black and White Series" in the
. Britis h Isles has been' quite as remarkable as
it ha<; been here. The well-known firm ofB.
Feldman & Co. are the sole selling agents for
Lh e "Witm ark Black and White Series" in Grea t
B rit ain and its Colonies, with the exception of
Canada and A ustralia.
Edward B . 1',,1arks, of the Edward B. Marks
Music Co., recently returned from a 2,OOO-mile
motor tr ip, covering- int eres tin g poi n ts in the
Adirondacks, th e White Mounta ins, the Berk
s hir es and the lakes of Maine. According to
Mr. Marks there were ve ry few songs whistled
on the street in the territor y visited as com
pare d with former yea rs. However, some of the
outstand in g successes, such as "Yes! We Have
No Bananas" and "Parade of th e Wooden Sol
diers," were hear d now and th en. In places
where dancing was in vogue such songs as
"Barney Google," "You've Got to See Mamma,"
"March of the Siamese," "Just for To-night"
and" Bambalina" seemed to be the favorites.
Among the new songs added to the cata log of
Irving Bedin, Inc ., wh ich will be heard fre
qu ently during the coming season are "Sittin'
in the Corner," d esc rib ed as ano th er "All by
Myse lf"; "Bit by Bit," a new song whic h had
its o rigi nal sllccess in Chicago; and a jaz z tu ne
en titled "Salt Yo ur Sugar," ;;tlld "Shuffle A lon g"
in th e same sty le.
NEW HAROLD FLAMMER NUMBER
Harold Flammer, Inc., recently accepted for
publication, while on the Co ast, a song entitled
"My Thoug ht s Are of You." John Steel, the well
known singer, is th~ author of t he lyrics and
