THAT Al Piantadosi is the latest of the popu-
lar composers to venture out on the seas of
music^ publishing. He will open offices in the
Broadway district shortly.
THAT George Graff, Jr., for some time writing
for Witmark & Sons, has been signed up by
Waterson, Berlin & Snyder. He will write with
Bert Clark.
THAT Dorothy Jardon is using with great
success the Chappell & Co. number, "Oh, You
Haunting Waltz."
THAT practically every publisher interviewed
at the present time expreses the belief that a
record-breaking* season is coming. All that is
needed now is the business.
THAT we again hear murmurs of publishers
getting together for the purpose of cutting out
the payments to professional singers, with the
10-cent stores interested in the movement.
THAT the trouble with all such movements is
that some never really start and the balance
hardly ever finish.

PROMISING NEW SONG OF THE SOUTH |
"Mammy's Little Coal Black Rose," a Strong
Addition to Remdck Catalog
Jerome H. Remick & Co., who have put over
more than their share of
Southern songs of all
sorts, have a new winner
in their latest number
called "Mammy's Little
Coal Black Rose," which
has b e e n particularly
well received, not only
for the catchy melody,
but also for the charac-
ter of the lyrics. The
song, which is by Ray-
mond Egan and E. A.
Whiting is not only used by a number of people
in vaudeville, but is also featured by Al Jolson
in the new edition of "Robinson Crusoe, Jr."

THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
CLEVER DISPLAY OF FEIST NOVELTY NUMBER
That the new Feist novelty song, "There's a
Little Bit of Bad in Every Good Little Girl,"
is receiving an unusual amount of publicity is in-
tion. The song has won quick popularity,
for despite the title, it is not a suggestive num-
ber, but lends itself readily to the comedy line.
SOME LIVE CHAS. K. HARRIS NUMBERS
Six Songs Issued by that Publisher Now Being
Strongly Featured
Chas. K. Harris is at present successful in
keeping a half-dozen clever songs in the ranks
of the season's successes, the numbers includ-
ing his Irish ballad, "All 1 Want Is a Cottage,
Some Roses and You;" his pathetic baby ballad,
"The Story of a Soul;" the ballad, "Come Back"
(Let's Be Sweethearts Once More); the novelty
medley, "Songs of Yesterday;" the farm song,
"It's a Long, Long Time Since I've Been
Home," and Jos. Howard's latest success, "Love
Me Little, Love Me Long." All the numbers
are being featured strongly in vaudeville, among
the acts using one or more of them being Van
& Schenck, Dooley & Sales, the Primrose Four,
Ad Hoyt's Minstrels, Victoria Four, Frank Mor-
rell, Mile. Rialto, Eddie Leonard's act, "The
Mimic World." Mayo & Talley and many others.
MUSIC FOR "INTOLERANCE" FILM
Unusually Elaborate Score for Motion Picture
Composed by Briel and Published by Chap-
pell & Co.—Many Attractive Numbers
The D. \V. Griffith's spectacular film, "In-
tolerance," which is now playing to capacity
houses at the Liberty Theatre, New York, has
an especially written score which is doing much
to assist the wonderful picture in carrying its
message to the audience.
The score is all Breil's original music, and
include the following: "Babylonian Love Song,"
"Honeymoon," "In Old Jerusalem," "March of
Cyrus' Army," "The Pharisee's Prayer," "The
Marriage at Cana," "Magdalen," "Arabesque
Fox-Trot," "The Chicken Trot," "The Recep-
tion Waltz," "Endlessly Rocking," "Class
Hatred," "The Christ Theme," and the "Hugue-
not Love Song." The fifteen numbers are now
being published in one book, and will be issued
later as separate numbers. Lyrics accompany
"Christ Theme," "Babylonian Love Song,"
"Endlessly Rocking," and the "Huguenot Love
Song." Chappell & Co., Ltd., are the publishers
of all the above.
OFFICIAL SONG FOR PHOTO PLAY
Display of "There's a Little Bit of Bad in Every
dicated by the accompanying illustration, which
shows one of the windows of the main Wool-
worth store on State street, Chicago, with the
display made up entirely on the song in ques-
Good Little Girl" in Woolworth Store, Chicago
The Woolworth stores in other cities, as well
as a number of individual dealers, have also
featured the song very successfully in their local
displays.
'ROSE DREAMS" GOING BIG
JAPAN'S ANTHEM COMPOSER DEAD
"Rose Dreams," the song reverie, with words
by J. R. Shannon and music by A. J. Stasny,
has reached the 300,000 mark and promises to
be one of the best sellers in the Stasny catalog
before the season closes. The A. J. Stasny
Music Co. is putting out' some very attractive
signs and other advertising matter on this song.
Franz Eckkert, composer of the music of the
Japanese national anthem, is dead. The au-
thorship of the "Kimigayo," Japan's "Star Span-
gled Banner," is disputed, but Japanese author-
ities admit this Teuton had a claim upon the
song's composition.
Eckkert died recently in Seoul, Korea. He
was sixty-four. When foreign music first was
introduced into Japan, in 1877, he was one of
the leaders in establishing its popularity in
Tokyo and other leading cities of the Empire.

NEW HAWAIIAN=AMERICAN SONG
A new song recently issued by Feist has in a
very short time created more than passing in-
terest and promises to be one of their best
sellers. The song is called "Honolulu, America
Loves You," and the words go on to show the
reason why, which seems to please the hearers
whether true or not.
"L-I-B-E-R-T-Y," the patriotic song pub-
lished by the Metropolis Music Co., has been
adopted as the official song of the new photo-
play "Liberty," now being produced by the
Universal Film Co. "L-I-B-E-R-T-Y" will also
appear in the catalog of Victor records for
November. Ted S. Barron, manager of the
Metropolis Co., states the songs "Georgia
Moon" and "On Honolulu Bay" are also having
a very good demand.
