SINGER'S DEATH DELAYS OPERA.
Owing to the death of Pearl Palmer, one of the
leading players !n the new Victor Herbert opera,
"Princess Pat," on Sunday night, the production of
the piece at the Cort Theater, scheduled for Mon-
day, was postponed until her place in the cast was
filled on Wednesday. The singer was shot hy her
fiance after a quarrel on Sunday, and died later in
the hospital.

"Two Is Company," a new musical comedy, or
rather French farce set to music, was produced
for the first time in New York at the Lyric Thea-
ter on Wednesday evening of last week, and al-
though it did not measure up to some of its prede-
cessors by the same author and composer, received
quite a cordial greeting.
The libretto of "Two Is Company" is by Jean
Briquet and the music by Paul Herve and Adolf
Phillip, both of whom were responsible for "The
Girl Who Smiles," at present playing at the Long-
acre Theater, and for "Adele," that bright and
tuneful operetta of other days, which set a mark
that the later productions have not been able to
reach.
The plot of the piece revolves around the expe-
riences of an amorous husband and a suspicious
wife. The introduction or prologue takes place
in one of the boxes in the auditorium, where the
family row starts, and finally is transferred to the
stage for the following acts.
The music is particularly pleasing, and although
being reminiscent of certain other airs in previous
productions, at times is excusable as being the
work of the same composers. Two of the num-
bers of the score that made a distinct impression
on the audience were "Back to Lotusland" and
"In the Land of Lorraine," and both songs will
probably enjoy more than a casual share of popu-
larity.

Henry Blossom-Victor Herbert Musical Comedy
Wins Quick Success at Opening.
Cablegrams received on Monday from London,
England, announce the success of the production
there last Saturday of the Henry Blossom-Victor
Herbert comedy with music, "The Only Girl." M.
Witmark & Sons, publishers of the score and sep-
arate musical numbers, received a cable message
as follows: " 'Only Girl' big success. General
opinion in for long run." The New York Sun-
day papers carried a news item to the effect that
the London papers voted "The Only Girl," pro-
duced at the Apollo Theater a great success, de-
claring incidentally that "Victor Herbert's music
is a delightful relief from ragtime."
The London production makes the fourth com-
pany that is now playing this successful musical
piece. The three companies now touring the
United States all report capacity business, and the
demands for the rnusx are correspondingly brisk.
NEW PHILADELPHIA CONCERN.
The Murray-Young Music Corp., Philadelphia,
Pa., has been incorporated with capital stock of
$50,000, for the purpose of writing, publishing and
dealing in sheet music, books and bound volumes
of music. The incorporators are: Herbert E. Lat-
ter, Norman P. Coffin and Clement M. Egner.
